I got my fingers amputated last year and I can't reach the trigger on any firearm. Thank god they make adjustable releases for bows. Does anyone have any ideas on some form of modification? Now if I shoot a pistol, I have to hold it with my right hand and pull the trigger with my left. Here's a pic of my hand next to a small S&W.

This looks like a job for a 3D printer. Ive seen where they have made complete prosthetics for people from a 3D printer. I would say it just needs to be able to be held in place. I would think that with the right addition you should be able to apply the amount of pressure needed. Plus get a trigger job done to lighten it up. I think that would be a pretty nice accomplishment for someone if they could produce something like that on the printer. Only if there was someone with a 3D printer that could take on this challenge.

I hope you don't think that I am suggesting this as a laughing matter. I do applaud you for not just giving up. Im sure your life has changed in ways some people couldn't imagine. Power to you brother.

That is definitely going to require some modification. I can see how a revolver might work but a pistol with the magazine in the handle, it's going to make the grip longer than you will probably be able to grip and still reach the trigger.

My friend thought about that and even found a file online for the blueprints but we don't know where to find a 3D printer without buying one! Thanks for your input and no offense taken, it has been rough but I've learned to laugh at my hands instead of being sad about it.

My dad has been trying to figure out some way of making a side trigger, but to me, it seems way too complicated or expensive.

Glad to hear. My neighbor has lost a couple digits and recently cut the tip off of one of his full fingers. He's a good sport about it when we tell his grandkids that he can help them with fractions. If you can't laugh at life, your gonna live a sad one.

I'm assuming both hands are similar? I would think either like you are is the best. Unless you can get an index finger on each side and pull with both.

On the idea of a side trigger. Thompson Center, among others used to sell a hammer spur/side extension to make it easier to pull the hammer back on their muzzleloaders when you used a scope. I wonder if something like that would work?

For your bow, I'd suggest switching to a thumb trigger. Should work well for you.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't a certain forum member just get a 3D printer. And isn't he quite proficient with it. And I believe he is also quite adept at finding solutions to hunting problems.

I can't grip them well enough so a wrist release works fine, I just have to adjust them.

That would be PERFECT thanks for the link! I just wonder how much they cost.

Yeah I don't know, I couldn't find anything online about the prices. I imagine they're pretty high priced given the nature of the product but you never know, certainly worth checking out, maybe you could do a gofundme or something if they're too high. I would think insurances would cover some of it? Anywho keep us updated and good luck!
