I received a Garmin GPS device for Christmas and will be using it predominantly for hiking, shed hunting, scouting etc. That being said, other than uploading the tracks/waypoints into google earth, are there any other free mapping programs into which the tracks can be loaded? I've seen on Garmin's website where there are purchasable programs, but I'd rather just have garmin-compatible program that's free if there's one out there thanks for any help! :D
www.expertgps.com Just try it out for 30 days free and print off the maps. You dont have to do anything after the trial period
I have the Rino 530hcx, and love it. I don't know about mapping apps to show your track, but you can get free topos and other maps to load on the unit itself from www.gpsfiledepot.com. I managed to score free 24k topos for NY and PA there.......would have cost me over $100 just to buy those two states and I don't think Garmin even offers a 24k for PA.
I have an old Garmin eTrex Legend (the blue one), that is still working fine. It's a little outdated, but hey, I does what I need it to do.
