I know a while back Mathews came out with the roller cable guard, but I've noticed recently Bowtech/Diamond/Gander Guide Series bows also have it. I'm tempted to call them up and claim mine broke, in order to get one, but it looks like they are made to fit in their risers. I assume by now maybe the patent ran out?? There has GOT to be a way to get one somehow. I'm sure it would have to be adjusted in or out for brace height, but imagine the difference in friction loss! I'm tempted to try and make my own, but it would look quite primitive. Come on Cobra/Saunders/Alpine, can't somebody make a universal one?? I have a Bear SQ32, with a non-adjustable cable rod, and my Blazers barely squeak by. My buddy cut his and offset it about an inch for adjustability, his blazers actually hit his cables. I appreciate any help. Thanks.
http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0026249416657a.shtml There is another one out there, that is more like what you want, I have seen it at Gander Mountain. Good luck.
There was one floating around a few years ago called the "Windstalker" that people were installing. Don't know if they are still around but if you google it you will probably come up with something. If I were you, I would simply replace with a Sims slide. There are several slides out there, but the Sims pulls them over a bit further than most.
I've got the Sims, that helped a little, much better than OEM, and I was tempted to get the Windstalker, but it looks a bit heavy. I'm talking about actual rollers, preferably with bearings. It would probably have to go in the AMO inserts for the sight/quiver mounts, although if I was the world's greatest machinist, I would make it convert to fit the original cable rod hole... I pretty much live at Gander, and they have no knowledge of one. I told them to turn around while I butcher one off their Tech Hunter Bows...I might have to buddy up to the bow repair guy for some parts.
Hey Lee, I need to take you to Mechdoc's house. Mechdoc could likely have one of the guys at the factory whip something up for you, the guy is like Yoda and works on all the machines that people use to make this stuff.
Excellent!! I'll make a drawing of what I'm looking for, but sounds like he'll know what i want. Of course, I may have to patent it...but then I need some machinist crew to create it. You in? Looks like you'll need one for your Vulcan...the Katera is screaming fast enough...Thanks!
Funny you mention this, we just got back from the ATA Show and saw a product called the "Bow Turbow" which is exactly what you're looking for - an aftermarket roller guard. I'll post up pics and info in my blog later this morning. Right now I have to take my dog out and take care of my sick wife. Fun!
Yep, as Justin and Raceway mentioned, you are looking for a product called the Bow Turbow. Here is the link: http://www.bowturbow.com/ The buzz around the ATA show was their claims of an added 20 FPS when using the Turbow!
I was hoping to get a test unit but the guy wouldn't budge. They are a little pricey but neat looking gadget. Hope they are all they claim, it would be great for some of the smoother but slower shooting bows out there.
We tagged team him and he still would not let loose of one. Then JZ walked up and stole your review from right under you.
Yeah, I saw Justin as he strolled up and thought it was in the bag but he still had no interest which had me wondering if it is a sham and he didn't want the bowhunting.com boys on it.
I was just making sure you two boys were keeping yourselves out of trouble. Nobody trusts a guy with a moustache, so I especially had to keep an eye on Fraley. And if you want to write the review, feel free! I'm busy and wont' have time to put it together for a few days, so if you're feeling up to it, be my guest!
When you hear the song "I can't drive 55" you need to understand that it means you have a problem with excessive speed, not 45 mph on major highways like you drive!!
I don't like those set screws. Most cable rods today are carbon fiber. Also, their "Safety Device" doesn't capture the cables, they should have extended to the roller axle, and they would gain capture and stiffness/rigidity. Looks like some good aluminum welding though. Whoever has one better put a hose clamp behind it for added safety.
I might pick one of these up out of curiosity, but i dont like the set screw either, I wish they had something that would screw right into the spot that the rod goes into....
Right, but should it be adjustable? 2 directions- 1. in/out from riser, 2. in/out from arrow(dog leg?) #1 would be like a friction vs power adjustment. #2 would be adjustable vane clearance. The bowturbow does not have #2.
