I was cleaning out my dads shed and found his 1964 Homelite Zip chainsaw. It needs some TLC but looks to be in decent condition. There was some fuel still in the tank from who knows who long, so I'm sure the carb/fuel lines are in need of some work. I'd really like to get this thing running again. 22 inch bar and weighs a ton, its a beast lol. Any ideas on where to get parts for something that old? I've done some online searching and found nothing. I emailed Homelite and haven't heard back. Looks like this one.

I'm no chainsaw buff, but I do have a few of my own, and that includes an old Homelite XL. Check this site out. I have found tons of info. on chainsaws there.

If I remember correctly that sucker Is LOUD! There's parts out there. Just go to a small engine repair place and ask them.

If you plan on using it after refurbishing it, be careful. It does not seem to have an anti kickback device. Nice looking saw though.

Yeah, its really loud. They put spark arresters on them instead of mufflers. Hearing is overrated ;)

My next door neighbor refurbishes them. He's got two homelites older than me that he uses (from time to time). He ordered the same paint as on that one (zip) and had someone create a stencil so he could paint them like the originals.

What are you looking for (parts)? I could ask him.

Points and a carb rebuild kit are probably first on the list. Thanks Jeff!

I had two of my own. A Stihl 290 Farm Boss which I love and a cheap Craftsman backup that I have tortured for years before buying the Stihl. I was then given an 041AV from the 70s I think. It weighs more than a 6th grader, but what a beast. It needs rings, but if you are gonna cut a whole tankful on some big stuff, it's the ticket.
