Maybe it is my age and previous experience with lots of travel but if it doesn't live around me and isn't a pest, threatening my animals or edible by my family then I am not likely to hunt it or shoot it.

100% Woodman. Have 0 interest in taking game that I can't eat just for the rush or trophy. Doesn't make sense to me.

Chasing a big mountain lion behind a pack of hounds is near the top of my list, in fact running hounds on most any game is a thrill for me. I am lucky to live in a area where black bears are plentiful and I have killed several with a bow, with that said I could care less if I ever killed another one. Pretty much nothing comes to mind that I would not hunt in the right situation, like most things it's not so much what you do it's how you do it that counts...

I wouldn't shoot an elephant, zebra, horse, chimp, monkey, giraffe, etc.

I understand that hunting elephants is good overall for the survival of the species because it gives them value and thereby provides an incentive to maintain the herd. I just don't think I could bring myself to shoot something that smart. Zebras are too much like horses. Horses, chimps, monkeys are all very smart and seem to relate to humans.

I don't begrudge other people doing it. It just isn't for me. I have deer, elk, caribou, moose, bear, pronghorn antelope, mountain goats, coyotes, wolves, birds, plus about 1,000 species of African animals that are deer-like. If I ever become so accomplished that I get bored with all of those, I'll just move on to something other than hunting.

I could hunt almost everything as long as it's fair chase.

Saying that I don't mean no fences, I mean the animal has the advantage in the terrain. Like whitetail hunting. 9/10 I won't get a chance at a deer I see. But like bear hunting with bait lion hunting (mountain) with dogs wouldn't really count as "fair chase". But I would try it and respect it until I do.

Weapon choice also has something to do with it. Hunting some wild animal like a lets say baboon. I know some might not hunt this animal, but me. I would do anything for it. Sending a rage through a baboon would be crazy awesome. But a rifle round from 300 yards away.. c'mon. Same as a deer. Bow.. yes. Rifle.. no. But I haven't tryed it so I don't know.

I'd shoot just about any normally accepted animal that's already hunted. The older I get the more open to anything to hunt. Mt Lion is tops on my list of critters to try for next.

There are many animals I would not actively seek out to hunt (african game) but I would have no problem shooting if in the situation.
