Nada!!! Found one mature doe and 2 yearlings dead. Lots of rubs, trails and poop. Not sure how far we walked but we walked for almost 4 hrs...
Good luck Heckler, Walked two spots total of 4.5 miles and nothing, granted these were not my “go to” spots. I think it’s still early but I had to get out there today. Beautiful day to be outside.
Gonna head to Ohio Thursday or Friday, as of the 12th I had a good buck I been watching drop his one side. Hope he dropped the other side shortly after.
I agree with ya. But I’m hoping he dropped both hahah. I’m going out tom to pull cams and look for sheds. I picked up an old one today after lunch.
I've never heard of the "48 hour window". But my experience tells me that the larger a bucks antlers are, the more likely they'll shed closer together. I have found multiple years of sheds from a large buck where twice the sheds were laying next to each other and twice where they were no more than 20 yards apart. I'm thinking that having just one real heavy antler is aggravating to a buck and he does what he can to get the last antler off of his head. Smaller bucks I've seen go weeks between shedding both antlers. I don't think it is as bothersome to have a small fork antler remain on their head as a big heavy 24" beam with multiple points. I will probably check my cameras today but 2 days ago I saw several bucks still carrying both sides.
Yah, I am just getting a little impatient. Probably just wait until March 1st. Anything that still holding by then can keep it! :p
4 to 8" of snow tomorrow w/ 40 mph winds. That will make it a little easier to stay out the woods. lol!
Beside the fact that we still have a lot of snow, about half of the bucks around here are refusing to shed. Come on warmer weather.
I think this will be my last hoorah for ice fishing here for this year then I should start getting alot more miles in. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
Ugh. I just saw a couple bucks the other day still holding in Pa, prob gonna let it rip on March 1st.
