Well went to check my cam, dunno why but sure glad i did. Opened up cam it seemed fine but as soon as I unclipped it to move it, all hell broke loose. Hundreds of ants. Everywhere! Got my cam outta there an all the ants off it an its fine. But upon further inspection to the stump I put minerals on, it's infested also. Kinda makes sense to why deer dont wanna even touch it. Or do you think the ants ain't botherin em? Either way I started a new site.

    What do you guys think?

I would be more worried about the camera. I would freeze that thing, then take it apart and blow it out. Then buy some Ortho Ant spray and spray it around the camera set up. Or get a little more into and get some of them little Ant traps where they take the gel back to the others and they all die.

Not sure what is in the minerals you put down, but something has to taste good to them ants.

That's what I'm thinkin that it might bother em. As for the cam it had none inside I took the batteries out an everythin.

I've used lick magic, power rack, an monster Raxx all on the same stump so somethin in one of em attracted em.

I think the ants would be a pest to the deer. The have enough to deal with. Biting flies, ticks.. The ants are probably enough to turn them away.

Call the Feds ? They would tell you that your camera should be more welcoming to ants, fine you for being a bother to them, and give the ants healthcare and a monthly check from your tax money.

well not if you put your 3 day old black60 on a tripod stand and leave the strap on it and close the camera on part of the strap. Dont ask me how I know..... Had ants in the camera, took it apart, blew it out, put it in the freezer and all is well. Had I Let it sit for more then 2 days it would have been a different story......

If you see ants around your new mineral spot, wouldnt hurt to get a ant trap and put it there. Things are cheap, like 5$ for 6 of them. But you probably wont have a problem with a new spot. Could have just had a spot too where ants were there normally and then just liked what you put down. But I never heard of ants taking over a mineral spot before personally.

We have already lost one camera to ants and have a second one that is taking random pictures every other minute. Fills the card pretty quickly. On the bright side we got a pic of a lightening strike :) Tried the freezing trick but it didn't work.

The deer have hired the ants to seek and destroy our equipment! Glad you got it out of there in time!
