In order to be competitive everyone needs to shoot a doe right away. Hope everyone is on board with that.
As far as filming goes I'll do some with my phone mounted to my bow but don't think I'll take the camera out.

What makes taking a doe first competitive? I'm new to these rules and scoring so i'm just curious.

A doe is worth 50 points and imo a doe is easier to come by in the early season when they can be patterned easy. That's speaking in very general terms though.

I usually try and shoot a doe ASAP so I'm cool with that. A buddy of mine wants to lay down a kill on tape so might do some early season filming. I tried to convince him to come film me last year the night I shot my buck. I had him on camera almost every night at 5:00 and even told him I was going to have an opportunity at this deer. He chose not to and like clockwork, he stood up in our CRP about 4:30 and I shot him 20 minutes later. I debated a long time about shooting him because he was a big deer, but his rack had really short tines with heavier beams. After he came in and finally turned broadside at 16 yards, I decided he was my most mature deer I've harvested even though he wouldn't score well. Would've been awesome footage, but oh well! He dressed at 183 and scored 119 3/8 so still a decent buck. Should have a handful of big bucks that made it from last year that I'll be after but haven't got them on camera yet. They were looking healthy through March so pretty sure they made it after that. Minimum, I will shoot two doe hopefully.

I'm on board the farms I hunt I have to take 2 does before each buck so I'll be shooting does asap.

    Thanks AT!

We sure have some quiet members in this group. That's not a good sign.

I don't think enough people have checked in for us to really decide that yet.

Yes I do I have 6 to 8 shooters on cam. The 2 farms I'm hunting this season haven't been hunted in 11 years so there's a bunch of deer there thsts why I gotta take 2 does before each buck.

The first farm is a 3 mile piece along the illinois river it has 2 bean and one corn field the rest is timber and the other farm is 244 acres 144 acres of bean and corn and 100 acres of hardwoods each night there's prob 30 to 40 deer in the fields a ton of does and a ton of small 4 and 6 pointers. My shooters seem to come out a hour before the rest of the deer or a hour after these left it's weird right now there pattern but 4 are regular day time feeders right now almost everyday between 4pm and 6pm one comes out that's a shooter. There's 3 I'm really after 2 really nice 10 points and a really cool 7 point there's a couple nice 8s I won't pass on to

I think traffic will pick up on the site and our team as summer winds down and hunting season gets closer. Not everyone sits by their computer in August waiting for new bowhunting.com posts.
