I thought that too. But, it could be the male characteristics coming through. Had another pic of it in August. If it walks by, its dead.

Agreed. Looks like a classic 2 1/2 year old IL. buck in the face. Could have had some damage to the "TSA pat down" region over the summer.

I am going with a buck with a testicular injury. This would explain the lack of a swollen neck due to lack of testosterone and the velvet never drying.

I'd say it's a doe, I read an article in a magazine called "weird whitetails" they had an article about a full velvet buck in November, and I believe It was found to be a doe afterall.

Either that or a testosterone problem...?

Agreed....but the doe following gets me too.

A dude who worked for my dad killed an antlered doe in full velvet during the WI gun season 2 years ago. Almost identical to this one.

It is certainly possible that it could be a doe.

Several winters ago (early January), my dad hit a buck with his truck that still had velvet. It didn't have that "felt" look or feel but the "hardened" velvet....if that makes sense. I know antlered does exist but I also believe a small percentage of bucks can hold onto their velvet until they shed their antlers. My opinion.

It's as good a candidate (antlered doe) as I've seen. I've heard they don't drop their antlers. And, that rack looks freaky enough to me.

    Interesting.

Doe towing a yearling. Im not sure but i believe its a 1 in 7000 are born with antlers that continue to grow and would shed thier velvet till it warms up. But for the size of the rack the body is very small. So if u get it and its a doe ill doante $20 towards the mount.
