Okay okay, I am a freak about my antlers. If there is a scratch I lose it. I know it's weird, but that's okay. Here is a prime example. I shot this buck on November 6th, and I noticed something odd on his g2. I don't know if I should call it a chip or wear. My guess is it was from roughly loading him into the truck, and letting his rack scraping up against the side. It feels pretty sharp, and to me it looks like I did it not the deer. Its at the top of the tine. It's not the end of the world by any means, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought it was from. Thanks
Not quite sure but I wouldn't worry too much because it look like something you have to look directly at to notice.
doesn't look like anything you did. i have scratched one and it turns really white. yours looks like the pigment of the antler. maybe it happened when he crashed heading to his death bed. if it bothers you just take some dirt and grind it in to the area and it should color it just fine.
Looks to me like he had an encounter with something before he met you. I shot a buck last year that had almost rubbed through his left antler. He and a metal post didn't seem to get along. Found the post all beat up afterwards. His horn was very white where he had rubbed the post and darker everywhere else.
I wouldn't say for sure that it was something that you did. One that bothers me after about 5 years is a smaller buck that I shot. We took him to be butchered and when we got the horns back, they had knocked about an inch off one of the tines. It didn't matter if it was a 150" buck or a small basket 6 (that's what it is), it still bothers me.
