me and im father do woodcarving and custom antler art and repair. anything you can thiink up we can make. we can take the plain ol dime a dozen skull mount and turn it into a one of a kind trophy. got a monster rack but its broke? we can fix it to where even under magnifacation you still couldn't tell it was fixed even under a sound test. a close friend of ours and world renown taxidermist Mike Redding still cant tell the differnce on racks we've worked on its kinda funny. my question is would anyone in here ever consider having any work like this done for yourselves or a friend? this is not an ad just a question.
The only way I would probably consider fixing a deers antlers is if the deer busted off his rack on his death run. I personally would always want my deer the way it looked whenever I shot it. Busted up racks give a buck uniqueness, and in a way tell a story of what the buck has been through throughout the year.
i think it's cool you can do that, but i'd never do anything to a rack, even if it got busted in it's " death run "
yea we can add anything you'd ever want. yes the stories are part of hunting, i just know alot of people buy racks and skulls from flie markets and like gettin them worked on. we are great on prices! i'll get some pics up tomorrow of something we have layin around so yall can get an idea.
we are located just south of cincinnati, Oh. we dont charge by the inch, for working on racks we see what all ya want done and work out a price that works for both of us. shipping is no problem. what is the going rate per inch? here is something very simple and inexpencive but yet very cool! here something a bit more "out there" as some people would say.lol so what'cha think? nothin special these weren't made for anyone in particular just us tinkerin around, we really are much better then this i'd post one of the antler repair but it would just look like a normal rack lol when we do another repair i'll take before and after shots. right now we're working on a single light chandalier (sp?) for this local guy, it should be done in a few days i'll post that when its done. you can send me a pm if anyones interested in having something done
glad ya like. that lamp there is 125 its quite large. the price all depends, send me a message and we can work somethin out. we get the antlers from every where we have a room full. yea it started as a question, i just wanted to see what people thought about it and it just went from there lol i got a baby on the way i cant pass up any oppertunity lol
My question is, if your blind, how can you read what we're typing:D Oh, and I love the lamp. I've seen plenty of antler lamps but none made out of skulls. Thats pretty unique
maybe someday! it would be a great gift item for sure! i think its good that you asked the question and gald you are on the site! best of luck and keep us up on more of your works!!!!!!!!!!!!
I read an article in North American Whitetail (I think that's where it was anyway) on someone who does what you do. Very interesting stuff. To answer your question, I would only repair a rack that was broken when the buck died or that had been broken at my home. My personal view is that I want to remember the buck as I shot him. Good luck.:D
thank yall so much when you hear people like what you do it makes it so much more rewarding cause the money sucks i calculated it doing this i make a little over a dollar an hour! (good thing i have other jobs lol) it takes anywhere from 10 to 50+ hours for one quality piece but when you give it back to the owner and see there face light up and hear wow how'd ya do that! it makes it worth it. i'll keep yall updated.
here ya go! really cruddy picture from a cruddy phone but you can at least see it i'll post better pics as soon as i can. im not sure if you can see in this pic but there are antlers going through antlers and a bunch of cool stuff. hope ya like!
you do some slick work mike! i plan on using my artistic talents later in life to make stuff like that with racks i've shot or whatever. i can really appreciate what you do and the time you put in. i've sold alot of my artwork in the past and it was usually to friends who i felt guilty about charging them "too much". i haven't drawn, sculpted, or painted anything in awhile, but the itch is always there. i like your stuff.... charge more for your hard and good work
heres a nine gun gun case very plain and simple very large ammo, pistol anything ya want compartment at the bottom, fully locking. we only askin 200 for it. i'll post some more pics of our work when i can so keep this thread in mind! lol
