Its on of the first public port-a-potties. You can see the two toilet paper holders near the rim. It was so ye Olde folks could line the seat with TP because they lived in fear of yonder crab.
Start by looking here: http://www.ehow.com/how_5463428_identify-antique-stoneware-crock.html Then its all about condition and age. For age, contact Western Stoneware out of Monmouth, IL. They are still in business.
The crack will definetly bring the value down some but the ones with handles are usually worth more. I dont know about that brand but my wife collects crocks from a company here in MN.
Well i found an appraiser here near chicago. That crock is roughly worth about $195 even with the crack since it holds water and there are not other chips or cracks. I found it at a goodwill while buying cheap pots and pans for my camper the other day. we paid $15 for it.
I was just fixin to say when my mother in law passed she had some and they went for a good chunk of change at auction! She had like 5 to 10 of them. All different sizes too.
