I agree to a T, without the 40 years of experience.

And a flintlock muzzleloader is a firearm....doesn't make it the same as a scoped 30-06.....

Why is it illegal for me to use a crossbow during archery season right now?

This is very true. Both have advantages, and disadvantages, over the other. It's much easier to hold a gun steady than a crossbow. Shooting/sighting in from a bench (or other means of stabilization) it's easy to be proficient with a crossbow. Same shot, free-hand, is a whole different ballgame. I think some who criticize so highly have never tried what they put down. Like the old saying goes... Don't knock it til you try it.

I could go on and on, but I'm sure it would just fall on deaf, and inexperienced, ears. Carry on

Do you think long bow kills are the same as X bow kills?

yes I do...if a grown man who is able bodied and can use a Bow but chooses to use a XBow I do look down on him, ...imho if a child, older person, or physically unabled person uses a XBow that's fine..in my experiences I know to many abled bodied people who choose to use the XBow....imho it's laziness on their part.

you asked for honesty, I'm giving my opinion

Many states it is legal others it is not. Minnesota is currently use only by special permit based on age or disability

To me, a kill is a kill. I have shot both but only hunted with a vertical bow. I prefer a vertical bow. To me a vertical bow feels like you are part of the bow and providing some of the force to sling that arrow. A cross bow is very similar to a gun to me, with less range. My preference is a vertical bow but there are a lot of things you still need to do correctly to make a clean kill, with a cross bow or a gun. I am not against them at all. I have family members that can no longer use a vertical bow and use cross bows. It's a great option at that point in life. Some day I'm sure I'll use one if it gives me more years in the stand during archery season.

When a person shows me a picture of a deer they killed I don't typically ask what method I let them tell their story and I say good job.

If I hit a big buck with my truck, it is still a big buck.

My point is I am happy for a successful hunter what they use to do it bears no effect on my opinion of the method, I don't rank success.

I can respect that opinion Sota for sure. Some of the points you were throwing out there to formulate and support that opinion I didn't think were very well thought out IMO. But hey, what do I know?

FTR, I am happy for all hunters who have a successful hunt no matter what and will congratulate them wholeheartedly; but that really has nothing to do with this thread.

No but the same way a compound bow isn't the same to a traditional bow hunter.

50yds shot with an Xbow is a done deal but most compound guys would never try it and for a trad guy that's would just be the beginning of the stalk.

I give Xbow hunters credit for not choosing a rifle.
