Well, we are finally looking at trading in the four ATV's on two of some sort of UTV. The Sportsman ATV's are an great shape but are not used hardly at all and need something safer for the boss's grand kids. We are looking at Polaris ranger 800 crews and maybe the 900 crews but also considering two more Mules. I'm not impressed with the Mules speed or their suspensions but they are durable and work for what we need just not very classy while doing it. Any suggestions or thoughts, things to watch out for or stay away from?
I'd take a look at the Kubota RTV as well. Same idea as the Mule but with Hydrostatic tranny instead of the CVT on the Mule. The mule as you know is a good machine.
We have a Polaris ranger 700 with only one row seating and we love it, starts amazing and has plenty of power for what we use it for! Great machine in my mind Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He was concerned the Rangers might be noisy vs the Mules. I've never been around the Rangers so I don't know, we're going to get one to try out if possible. Have looked at the Kubota's online. I liked that they came with heat and air but are way more expensive than anything else. Personally I would buy a mini-truck for myself when I get to buy a UTV for my personal use, lol.
I'm a Polaris guy, so I'll vote for the Ranger 900 My neighbor is a Polaris salesman and mechanic, and he is blown away by the 900. He took one down gravel roads hauling a 14' trailer, picked up another ATV on it, and hauled it back to the shop doing 45mph. That's pretty good in my book!
Okay, well I spent yesterday and this morning on this deal....I've found an 800 Ranger EPS crew on the lot locally and I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on one for now. If we like it as expected will get a second one and probably trade both Mules in on Two more 800 rangers in the near future. Pics coming when I get the deal made.
Uhm,....yes. They are farm vehicles. Several farms, 2800 acres total and growing. My job is awesome! I farm ~750 acres and manage wildlife on the full 2800 acres, which along with my personal property makes about 3200 acres. They are used for everything from hunting to managing prescribed burns with water tanks to entertaining farm guests like family and friends.
There was a reason for me asking. Does he have a preference? Me personally, I'm impressed with the CanAms and JD offerings. The latter especially for work/utilitarian purposes.
No problem, I answered like that just being funny because they are for both of us to use around the farms so a simple yes covered both options. His preference was originally the Mules but he's not really widely educated on all the options in UTV's either. He was basing that on the two mules on hand vs the ATV's on hand...he's never been on any other UTV to judge by. Grant Woods and I were discussing UTV's back in February while riding around in the Mule with my landlord and were complaining about the mule's poor suspension and Woods mentioned liking the Rangers so I reminded my boss of that conversation and sort of nudged him towards considering the Rangers over the Mules. So that's a little background on the situation as to his preference. We don't have a can am dealer around that I'm aware of and the JD's are too pricey just because of the name. A crew cab version with power steering was like at least 2K higher than anything else. I couldn't see where there was that much extra value in them at that and my landlord said he isn't a fan of John Deere products so that squashed that option by the second paragraph of our conversation on the matter, lol. Does Can AM even make a crew cab version? I think I looked on their website last evening and didn't see but a single bench UTV?
The Atv trade for a 2014 800 Ranger crew is a done deal. Delivery as soon as they get the windshield, back glass and hard top installed!
Well, I got one of the Rangers delivered quite a while ago but just got the other one today. Here's a couple pics of them together here at the shed. I've been trying the first one out for a while now and it's everything it needs to be. Plenty of power, speed, strength, etc... I really like them and boy do they ride smoother than the darn Kawasaki Mules!
