I love my climber, but there are spots a can't hunt due to the tree .... so I need to ask for a christmas present ... HELP ME OUT GUYS :D

I see the muudy sticks ... I really like the looks of them ... the LW ones are nice as well .. Muddy a little more $ to get you to the same height. Both seem real light and easy to pack ... If I had my druthgers, I'd go Muddy

The hang on can be a GOOD cheap model that I can buy 3 or so of them to place in those spots my climber cant get ...

    thoughts?

I absolutely LOVE my Loggy Predator stands (half off price of the stand Muddy copied) and Muddy sticks combo.

I paid full price for neither, and too be honest as much as I like em I STILL don't know that I would have.

I'd go Muddy sticks just for the hook up system, those ropes with cinch tight cams are freakin awesome.

I bought a Loggy Stand which is a carbon copy of a Muddy (but it was the original) and bought a Muddy cushion for it...best of both worlds, I now have a Muddy stand but saved $50-60 bucks.

T, once you get he hang of hanging the LW, which will be quickly, it only takes minutes to hang the sticks and stand!! If I were to go the route you are looking to take, I'd buy the LW set up and see how it goes, you may find its easy enough and just use the one stand set up, hence saving your self some cash!

I use the Ameristep Crush combo for a run and gun setup. It works very good for me.

I use a Millennium hang on. I love it. Its the most comfortable stand on the market, and good sized, and pretty light too. They use a bracket hanging system, so you mount the bracket and all you do is climb up and slip the stand in and you are ready to hunt. Might work for you, as all you would need to do is hang the brackets where you want, and just have one stand vs. buying multiple stands. I can't comment on mobile type sticks....all my setups have stick ladders already set. The guys that are totally mobile all the time seem to prefer the LW setups from what I've seen. I got mine here: http://magnoliaoutdoors.com/ and I know they sell them at cabelas and sportsmans guide too.

I do both, depending on the tree & length of sit. My climber os mor comfy, but the stix & stand can go almost anywhere.

I carry my LW climber 90% of the time. Most of the spots I want to hunt have good trees for a climber.

With that said, I ordered 2x of the Loggy Predator Pro's this summer, and just ordered 6x of the Muddy sticks the other day, they should arrive tomorrow. I'll play with them this weekend and post up my thoughts on the sticks. If I don't like them I'll be ordering up some LW's and putting the Muddy's up for sale pretty quick. I have a specific few areas where there aren't any good climber type trees, and these should be just what I need to get aggressive in these spots.

The doe I killed last weekend was out of one of my Loggy Predator Pro's, I hung it that afternoon to get on an inside corner of a corn field that had been cut that day. There is no way I would have gotten on her like that without a good mobile setup. I'll be thankful to not be using screw in steps anymore though.

I have been since I bought my LW Alpha and Sticks years ago. I sold my climber 2 years ago it just sat collecting dust. My LW will go into any tree in the woods a climber will go and millions more! I can set it up in minutes and take it down even quicker!

I recently bought a set of Muddy sticks to use with my Ameristep ????? aluminum stands.

With that said, I've put in an order with JZ for 2 sets of Lone Wolf sticks and 2 Lone Wolf Alpha stands. ;)

I buy a BUNCH of stands every year from Rural King at the end of the season. Last year I bought 5 stands, ($100 regular priced) that were marked down to $30. If you find the "Beagle" stands, you can pick those up for $20!!!

Then I buy the stick ladders when they mark those down as well. I can usually get those for $25-$35. Add a couple screw in steps to get me 18-20', and one extra for a bow holder.

I can get an entire set for LESS than $65.

    Why spend $200?

I like them, a lot in fact. They attatch to the tree very quickly and quietly and are rock solid. The only complaint I have is that the "geared" steps make noise if you shift your weight on them or if you step on one side and then the other side of the same step. The top step makes the most noise, but I have been able to avoid some of it by stepping more towards the middle of that step.

Great sticks, just need a little tuning.

I go with the lone wolf sticks and stand and it works pretty good for me. I use 4 sticks and I am plenty happy with the height. I was never comfortable with climbers and this set up has given me the mobility i was looking for.

Muddy Stand and Sticks here..... both a great products, but could use a few improvements to really set them apart.

Stand... I went with the steel model to get some extra platform size, and I was a little disappointed when it was actually attached to the tree. The platform is smaller for its dimensions than most other hang-on stands on the market. Weight (even with the steel model) isn't bad and it is pretty easy to set up... a tip is to loosely attach the bottom strap first before dealing with the top ratchet strap. Another thing I noticed is that even though the seat cushion is very comfortable, mine seems to slide around a bit. The seat height also seems a little tall for me (6'1" tall), I would really like to see the seat lowered an inch or so. The stand is rock solid though and mine hasn't made any noise at all.

Sticks... As Dan mentioned above.. the steps "gears" can make some noise if you step on the outter part of the steps. I (like Dan) have started stepping in the middle of the steps and it has helped alot. Another complaint that I have is that the sticks are pretty short. I honestly don't see how anybody could get 20' high with 4 sticks... I am reaching around the 15' to 16' mark with 4 sticks. A few tips.... when attaching the sticks, try to make sure that the rope goes straight when wrapped around the tree, this will drastically improve the stability of the sticks and it will prevent them from pulling away from the tree when pulled upon. Also, my rope on my sticks seemed to need to be stretched before it really settled in.

I love how the stand and sticks pack together, and while I havn't had a ton of practice setting my stand up, I have found that I can get the sticks and set up quietly in around 20 minutes.

For me cheap is the key, Afterall it's just a lock-on. I buy'em on sale I have 4 now, 2 ladder stands and 2 climbing sticks and lock-ons in addition to 2 LW climbers.

The lock-ons are pretty much set prior to season, so stealth or ease of movement is ot akey concern...The LW are for moving around.
