I didnt want to hi-jack the other Summit thread so thought I would make my own. It may actually help him in his choice as well?? I need to get a new seat for my climber and am down to a few choices... -Supreme Seat from here---- http://cottonwoodoutdoors.com/hunting.php - Original Summit Seat--- http://www.summitstands.com/productdetail.aspx?id=85124 - Summits surround seat--- http://www.summitstands.com/productdetail.aspx?id=85117 The question in hand is has anyone used one of the new Summit Surround Seats? Does it fold up flat? Is it worth the extra $$ compared to the original seat?
I think buckeye has played with extra or aftermarket seating on his ... or maybe that was his Lone Wolf he added a Summit seat to. Sorry.
I bought the Cottonwoods seat last year. You can't beat it. Check out some pics when I redid my Summit last fall. http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=6416&highlight=overhauled
That looks good! It looks like you went with the standard seat..? Am I correct? I also seen the Cottonwood seats at the outdoor show near me, but held off from buying one hoping to find a good deal on another seat but I cant find nothing out there that looks as comfotable? Thanks!!
Yep, its the standard seat. It even has a storage pouch in the rear of the seat which is kinda neat (never used it though). Its 100% better than the stock seat. The buckles work so much better, are rubbercoated, and don't rely on those metal o-ring clamp things to hold the straps onto the buckle. I've had trouble with them coming off the stock seat and I would be without a support until I was able to repair it. You can see how much thicker the seat is too. The buckle strap that goes around the seat is better IMO than the bungee and is just as quiet. I haven't had any experiences with the other seats (except stock) but I'll guarantee that you'll love this seat. Make sure to get the butt & arm pads. They velcro on and don't rely on zip ties. The stock buttpad eventually pancaked and was uncomfortable where the zip ties secured it to the sitting bar. Thats not the case with the Cottonwood arm/butt rests. Good luck.
Thanks again!! I am going to really debate now on which one to get? I know the stock Summit seat is out of the question!! I am going to go look at the Summit Surround seat tommorow and see if I like it or not? I am actually replacing the seat on a Loggy Bayou Mega Transformer Pro. It really is a great stand, I dont have a single problem with the butt pad or arm pads on it at all. they velcro much like the cottonwoods. The seat however is like sitting with a 2x4 under your thighs!!! It has two straps that connect UNDER the seat...talk about painful after a couple hours!! ANYthing is an upgrade for me! I appreciate the help, if I have anymore questions on the cottonwood seats I know who to talk too!!
