my buddy and i have been huntin this deer HARD. We have 3 years of sheds from him, all kinds of trail pics, footage on him for all of the 3 years (including this year when we had him at 10 yards and he bolted when we tried to stop him with a grunt). My buddy (who owns the land) got a call from an acquaintance who caught wind of a whammy of a deer taken "just north of his land" who has 10 points on his left side all junky, and the right side has 7..... he goes on to say that the kid shot it from his truck... my buddy checked on the validity of this phone call... and there it was.. 2 sabot casings sittin in the middle of the road.. gut pile and drag marks off of his property onto the road....

Then, come to find out, that my ground blind we've had set up since september was stolen not 100yds from there... God bless America

    heres the deer

Any chance there's enough info to get an investigation started to catch the criminal?

theres talk of my buddy goin over there to take pics and video of it... put the video cam back in bag (leave it runnin) and get the kid to get amped up and tell him the story..and catch it all on the audio... but it's a long shot (we dont think the kid knows who owns the land)

Seriously, get some CSI stuff going on with the shell casings for some prints. That sucks. I hate poachers.

"ethically challenged" that's funny stuff. crappy situation though. Sucks when you put a ton of time into a deer only to have some meatball poach him. In N.D. we have a R.A.P. (report all poachers) hotline. If you have something similar in your state i would definately call it!

If you really believe that's what happened then get something going.

I sure hope you arnt pointing fingers and calling names. If the deer was poached, get ahold of someone. Dont do it yourself. The fines and restitution on a buck that caliber are huge in MN. Let the over paid DNR take care of it.

That sucks to hear, one thing worse then "your buck" getting killed is "your buck" getting killed illegally by some punks. I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

If he was killed legally though, congrats to the hunter on a great trophy!

So they shot the deer from the truck, tresspassed onto someone else's land, and took the time to gut the deer, but left the shell casings? Man, nobody said criminals were smart. That sucks.
