Hey everyone, I am Josy! Went on a wonderful hunting last season. Surprisingly, I loved to hold a bow for the first time. I had a patient and skillful "master" archer. Would love to get to learn more and hope to count on all of you. Thanks!
When I said I was lost, I wasnt kidding...feeling a little better as far as for the very first steps I should take for my very first bow hunting trip. Looking for an opportunity to audit. Any suggestion? ---------------------------------------
Other than readying all I can get my hands on bow hunting from this site, what should I start doing or what distance should I practice to get closer to killing a deer? I am doing okay on 30yeards. (be patient with my spelling and heavy accent!!)
Are you the same Josy that took Rob Swanson deer hunting? If you are, boy, you really showed him how it's done! Welcome to our fire Josy.
No such thing as too many questions. Welcome to the site. If you are doing well at 30 yards that is great for starting out and more than enough for treestand hunting. I see you are from AK so as your shooting progresses you'll stretch that distance out and want to get more comfortable at greater distances. Just stick with what you are comfortable with and once you get to a point where you are shooting well at a given distance move back a bit. As far as what animal to chase first, I can't really help you there. You folks in AK are so fortunate to have so many critters to chase. There are a few other AK hunters on this forum that I'm sure will chime in and help you out. Good luck!
That's what I wonder, but he is to who I give all the credit of that hunt. Call him a good guy, or a gentleman!
The best information I can give you is to stay away from Hunlee...no matter how persuasive or clever he may seem, and how incredibly intelectually stimulating he maybe....his woman is incredible jealous. SB just sayin
welcome, you'll love it here! you'd asked what distance... if you are just starting i would honestly start at 10yds, build up confidence and keep moving back 5yds at a time. personally i dont shoot over 40yds but im not sure what the terrain is like around you.... but i WILL say this, you've come to the right place! tons of grrrrrrrrrreat info here and many many very skilled archers.
psssst, I'm kidding around, he is hilarious and obviously a skilled bowhunter...you will enjoy this site and all the people. SB
