Brett, I agree... it's crazy to watch him run through/past people. He's so big that he looks like he's moving in slow motion... but the guy has blazing speed. Scott, throw in an autographed hat and an appearance on his show and that's not a bad idea! Maybe time will prove me wrong, but I think Lane Kiffin makes the Mad Hatter look like Sigmund Froid! The guy is nuts!! Rich Rod is the only other person on his level.... at least Miles has a lucky horse shoe up his arse. Dooley could be a good one but the Vols are a premier program... I think that they could have done better.
Did I address you?????? What your team did before you were born is of little reference, dontcha think?
Not sure I am following that reply. 2002 was in my lifetime. It is obvious even though you claim otherwise that you do have something against the Buckeyes. Which is fine, admitting it is the first step though.
Tradition is a huge equation, you know that. So yes, what teams did before you were born shaped what your team is today and will help shape what it will be tomorrow.
I have nothing against the buckeyes. I have nothing against UNC- Chapel Hill (basketball). I have nothing against the NY Yankees. I have nothing against the Dallas Cowboys. Etc... There are teams that people love to glom onto. These are a few. Rabid, blindly-following fans of any team kinda make me chuckle. The most prolific "tradition" I can recall from OSU (and yes, I was alive) was Woody decking a Clemson player that happened to just get into arm's reach of him on the sidelines. There's a tradition to be proud of. Can't pick and choose. I'm nto a rabid fan of anyone. But, the Gamecocks have held their own against OSU in the past. Wouldn't you say? Hey....even in your lifetime!
bama getting beat by the gamecox furthers my belief that boise has no business in one of the major conferences... some said boise could beat SC, i don't think that happens... I feel pity for Ole Miss this weekend... they are gonna get the ever-lovin piss beat out of em...
You are correct, you cannot pick and choose your history. I also wouldn't choose John Coopers record against Michigan or his bowl game record . We again go back to the USC OSU bowl games that we have talked about quite a few times now. Yes USC won both times. Those are two of a couple hundred other losses OSU has had. It honestly does not bother me one bit to say that OSU lost those two games. There will be more losses in the future, perhaps some will be to USC again.
OK.... The Vols SUCK! So does BAMA, LSU, South Carolina, Arkansas, Vandy, Georgia (they are especially heinous), Ole Miss, Auburn, and any other team that plays my GATORS!!! But I love the SEC!!
Ahhh…. It’s become a game of “what have you done for me lately?” You know, Jeff, Rome was the perennial power-house of its day. And of course we’ve all heard the phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. Well, love it or hate it, Ohio State is a perennial power-house in the world of college football. Not the only perennial power-house, of course. There are a dozen or so teams I would include in this category… but without a doubt, Ohio State is certainly one of them. And we have a tradition of winning that spans more than a century. That being said, the answer to your question is: absolutely, positively and unequivocally NO! But, you’d like to know what my team has done for me lately? Fair enough: In my lifetime, Ohio State has won 1 National Championship, 16 Conference Championships, finished in the top 20: 26 times, top 10: 14times and top 5: 10 times. In the last 8 years, Ohio State has finished no lower than #20. In fact, aside from a single #20 placement in 2004, they’ve never left the top 10… but wait, aside from the afore mentioned, and a single #9 posting in 2008, they’ve not finished outside of the top 5. That’s correct; 6 top 5 finishes in the last 8 years. We have also played in 7 BCS Bowl games in last 8 years, 5 of which, we have won. The other was the spanking of a solid Oklahoma State team, in the ’04 Alamo Bowl. This makes us 5-3 in bowl games, over the last 8 seasons -7 of which, were BCS Bowl games. One of which, was a record 14-0 season, capped off by a victory and BCS National Championship against an "unbeatable" Miami team; a team that was touted as possibly the greatest college football team, ever assembled. And all of this happened when “they’re not as good as they used to be”. Guess what? I’ll take it Jeff, do you like apples??
I DO NOT hate OSU but I will state an observation. The refs absolutely blew the defensive pass interference call against Miami in that national championship game against OSU. The game was over until that call was made...it was terrible, downright horrendous. Just stating the facts. Love me or hate me I do not watch football that much anymore even though I played it for 17 years, but I did watch that game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMvjADmxhVw
AHHHH... Brett, what that clip doesn't show is the original non-call. This was basically the "make up" call for a unbelievable pass interference non-call on a previous play, against Miami. If the flag had been thrown on that play, this play would have never happened, and the result would have been the same. Besides, they got the ball back and had another series, including a 1st & goal - that's 4 attempts from inside the 10.... just couldn't git-er-done against out D... oddly enough, no one bothered to post the original non-call on youtube. Not that I can see, anyway.
