BTW thank SC for me next time you go to the game!!!! I loved IT Buckeye if OSU runs the table, please tell Tressel to drop the hammer in the Title game
You say all this about Ohio State and then throw TCU in there, now that makes no sense as all. Before you assume I am a fanboy, I roll with BAMA since birth and you gave them alot of props. You just simply cannot say OSU plays no one and then throw TCU in the mix.
Keep in mind that the USA Today is the COACHES VOTE poll, NOT the writers..... While I'm an OSU fan, I'm not really sure they are the BEST team in the country either. By mid November, we'll have a little better idea, but the only REAL solution would be a PLAYOFF. Yet we all know that corporate $$$$$ pushers can't have that because college football is a BILLION $$$$ industry!!! Like it or not, it's much more about $$$$ than who's really the BEST. You're AWFULLY SEC favored there, remember, OREGON was the team that OSU handily beat last year, and that was with their "good" quarterback. I still do believe Alabama is a great team, I'd more than anything question the play call of that game and Saban's ability to adapt and adjust to Spurrier's moves. A good chess match won by a guy who's played that game many times over. For the record, I believe the SEC may be the BEST CONFERENCE in college football, but they will have to claw their way back to get that coveted #1 ranking for now, and remember the COACHES overwhelmingly voted OSU the #1 team, not just the writers.
Bottom line..... Who do you think has the best team? I'm not talking about how the "system" works. Why can't they just place their votes each week on who they think has the best team. I can tell you.....the top of the polls wouldn't change this week, if they did that.
Thoughts for the record... Florida has not went anywhere, they are just replacing se veral NFL bound players, same as Bama is doing on D this year. You cannot lose that many guys and just remain the best in the country. Georgia is going through the same thing, losing Stafford and Moreno back to back hurts big time. Bama still has Auburn and LSU on the schedule, if we handle the rest of the schedule and take care of business with those 2 we still go to Atlanta since we beat Arkansas head to head. College Football...man is it great or what, I have been hearing about this unstoppable force from Tuscaloosa and how great they are, but as a homer I saw something different. A young defensive team with a "game manager" at QB...all that got exposed at one time and now we gotta climb back up the mountain. In a world where everyone passes, no kid is left behind and everyone wants to be the boss or at least get the same pay as the boss and we still have a place whre ANYONE can be a loser on a give day...
Hardly a nit-pick. I don't loathe OSU. I loathe the fact that they play a weak schedule and aren't penalized for it like other schools are. It's not their fault. OSU doesn't bother me. My favorite team (who I'm not rabid about) had a pretty good weekend......and they do really well when they play OSU.
Post these strength of schedules of yours. I hope these are updated not like ten years old or something. tOSU plays roughly 5 ranked teams per year... So I do not understand your angle here.
I made a post on this a long time ago. I think the HIGHEST OSU's EVER ranked is 16th. Usually, they're not ANYWHERE (like....in the same zip code) near that. If I were as big a fan as you are.....I'd want to know for myself. Check 'em out, over the years. Report back what you find!
Honestly, I am not going to dig into it. Post up this years SOS for the top ten teams from last fall.
To add, who else in the NCAA go out of conference looking for trouble like tOSU does? Every year they have a huge non conference game, home and homes with Texas, Oklahoma, USC trojans, Tennessee, the U etc etc.... No one else in college football does that.
Speaking of not interested.....I don't even know what SOC means. Just imagine how weak their strength of schedule would be without those out of conf. games. It could be below 50th (wait). It could be 75th (wait)...... It could be lower.
Honestly, I don't know what you're looking for. I did a little web-searching on it a while back (when I was looking at BSU's strength of schedule #'s). It was a little surprising, is all I remember. Made me wonder why they (OSU) seemingly get a "pass" from the powers that be (historically). That's all. No hate. I don't know a single soul on the team.
The only strength of schedule rankings I can find on google is for the 2007 season OSU was ranked 10th and 2008 season and OSU was 18th.
That is true of Ohio State, I will always give them credit for strengthening their schedule. I do have to say that Virginia Tech also goes out of conference playing big time programs just like Ohio State does. In fact, don't VT and Ohio State have a home and home with each other starting in 2013 or something? That will definitely be an exciting game.
Either you're looking at pre-season rankings......or, the information I found was inaccurate. The info. I got said they'd never ranked higher than 16th. If it was pre-season......then maybe they over--rated the schedule and OSU. Sounds plausible.
