After an awesome, But extremely hard hunt in KY, I was ready to walk "Downhill" to my home stand for once... And it was'nt going to take much for me to let the string go, I hooked up my tether and 3 does immediately come out into the field, my bow is still on the ground, and it's only 4pm. As I watch them in the field from about 100yrds away, I notice a fourth deer, with little bit of head gear. I watched him and decided I would take him if given the opportunity... He browses and loses interest in the does and returns to the bedding area... So then I decide to take a doe, when the mama comes in range... I come to full draw... and started thinking... and I remembered the words of GMMAT, "if you have to think about it, you probably shouldn't shoot it." I decided to wait on the buck... it appears he is not coming back, so I decide to take the doe if she comes into range again... lol. Then I notice the buck back out... and I see him taking a little sniff at one of the little fawn does. The big doe is back in range but I wait on the buck... which is about 50 yards behind her grazing... craziest thing ever.... The Doe takes off after the buck and starts running in circles around him... Teasing him! of course he chases and she runs but she runs to far and he returns to grazing... makes his way in front of me for a 20 yrd shot... Caught the top of the heart and he fell in sight. The mama doe and fawns stick around till dark. But the doe is in the woods 10yrds away downwind... and she knows somethings up... she cautiously walks back into the field and her Fawns Immediately run to her and start sucking for Milk!! It's November 9! Anybody ever heard of that before??? Anyway, here are some pics. If anybody remembers the Rob buck I was chasing in 07-08 this has to be his son...
Like I said via text message, congrats man. I'm still "trying" to work out a way to come up there but I don't think it's going to happen.
Congrats on a cool buck. As far as the fawns nursing, I think that they will nurse as long as their mother will let them. But November 9th is definitely late.
Nice job on your buck Aaron. That bright red fletching is always a neat sight to find on the end of your arrow. Congrats!!
