Yesterday I started the day with a 1 mile run. Was going to be more but it started raining. That was ok cause I was going to Ohio yesterday for camera work and scouting. That's where the real workout took place. 4 miles with a 50lb backpack in the rain. Hips are a bit sore but I did get a 4 mile run in today. Not bad for an old man!

I cant imagine. My Dad was over in Baghdad around 2003 for a year. Right before he came home some idiot ran a car bomb into their training facility and killed dozens of people he had befriended. He was devastated. Keep your head up Wedes.

Just finished my 5th leg based workout in 3 days. Hiking, running, walking, and lifting. Today I walked for an hour with a 20 lb pack and finished up with 200 pushups with that same 20 lb pack on my back.

Pretty obvious I don't frequent this thread, but now that I'm starting to get back onto working out, I wanted to say thanks for posting what you all do. I'm terrible at stringing together a workout, so it helps to see how you all do things.

Also, what time of day do yall prefer to work out?

I absolutely hate morning workouts. Heck I hate doing anything at 5 am that doesn't involve hunting. I like lunch time or mid day. All my equipment sits in the shop which is a short walk and I currently work from home.

I typically work out some time between 10 am -11 am. But, I am at work at 7am and happen to manage a university fitness center for job, so its pretty easy for me.

Hiked for 45 minutes at a 20% incline with a 20lb pack today. I am going to start lightening up the hikes as we get closer to season since I am not elk hunting this year.

I know you said you hate the morning workout but that's what I prefer because if I get busy later in the day, I can find all sorts of excuses not to do it. Also, I've tried doing it in the evening but then I get so hyped up I can't sleep. I also fund that my mood is so much better throughout the day if I go early morning. But no matter when you go, it just that you go. Keep us updated on what you're doing. Reading these threads each day keeps me motivated.

I find my bad mood in the am to be a good friend. Lol. You are right about having too much time to make up excuses in all seriousness tho.

    I did legs today. Front squats @ 95 pounds 8 reps x 4
Weighted single legs @25 lbs 8x3
One set of hanging cleans just to loosen up what I did Saturday (still tight)
    Calf raises
Tried for one minute of jump rope and maybe squeezed out 30 seconds.
    25 push ups.

Pretty light day and I'm just starting to get back in the routine. I'm 44, so practically a spring chicken. But I'm way out of shape.
Oh and I do use this thread for some motivation, but I'm trying not to kill myself. You guys are beasts.

That thing always seems to strain my lower back. I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or it's just the fact that your knees are always bent. I always hurt after I get off of that thing.

I will do my weight training before work during the summer months. It’s cooler, gives me most of the day to recover and frees up my afternoon for other activities or some cardio. During the winter months I may switch it up depending on what I want to do after work.

I've still been doing my little at home workouts. 50 push ups, 50 20lb dumbbell curls, 50 20lb shoulder raises, 50 20lb tricep extensions, and then X number of squats. About 3.6 mile walk/run each day. Averaging about 1.5mi run every day. My shins and calves still get sore, but not nearly as much as they did when I first started.

My diet has been on par too (at least during the week). I've been eating nothing but chicken breast taco bowls for over a week for dinner. Can get a giant bowl of healthy food for around 600 calories. Good thing I love jalapenos, hot sauce, cilantro, and salsa because that has saved my butt. The bowls would be so bland without that stuff. I don't really eat breakfast or lunch. Usually just snack on a few pieces of sliced chicken breast, a few pickles, and some almonds for lunch.

Have to make sure I keep the grind going.

Side note. You guys are beasts.
