Burned 845 calories this morning with 85 minutes of cardio. I also did some lifting but I never know how to calculate the calories burned with that. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Thanks for the shoe suggestion. I would like to run maybe five miles a week or so. That would keep about a pound off me per month in addition to the other training I do. Small moves like that seem to make a big difference for me.
I think we are all far more apt to stick with change when it comes incrementally. You are smart to start slow in my opinion. Not only from an injury perspective, but from a long-term change in habits. I already feel so much better and have no issues with cleaning up my diet some. I no longer crave fried food and probably couldn't stand to drink a coke unless it had plenty of crown in it. lol. I still enjoy my craft beer, but fewer of them.
I need to get my fat ass in shape again I feel like I’m on that show my 600 pound life. This is my wallpaper on my phone for constant reminder! I have a lot of health issues, and my neurologist told me that for the next five years I can’t do any strenuous physical activity, or participate in any type of activity that could cause contact to my head or neck. Sit ups are out of the question, I can’t put that type of strain on the back of my neck/cerebellum area. I have hypoglycemia, so I need absolutely have to eat complex carbs. So last week I started walking again, before the cold weather head I was walking about 3 miles every other day. I’d like to get back up to that soon. Good luck everyone! Joe, start with just setting the routine and try to reduce the high glycemic foods (soda, sweets, cut down on the bread, pasta, rice) and keep it simple. Walking or even high rep light weights will help. How's your balance?
Finally trying to get back into it. Used to lift religiously and was bulked up to 185...got lazy with it and been out of it for over a year. Pretty embarrassed with how skinny I got, so just started trying to get back into it.
I’ve been soda free since my stroke almost two years now. I do have an occasional Coke, maybe once or twice a month. Pastas and breads I do eat quite a bit of because it keeps my blood sugar very stable, as my body is extremely sensitive to drops in levels. I need to ask my Dr about this stuff, because if it works, I can hopefully steer away from the breads and pastas. My balance is good, not great. Definitely not what it used to be before the stroke Thanks!! I appreciate the advice!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thats great, stay after it. Muscle memory is your friend. I'm feeling pretty good. I went on s ski vacation for 5 days and let my diet go off the grid. Came home and got back after it. Jumped on the scale a week later and I'm down slightly from where I was before I left. No harm done, on with the show. I'm ditching the fasted morning cardio for now as I have been getting 2.5 -4 miles of running in after lifting every night. I don't want to overdue the cardio while in a caloric deficit.
Still haven't made it to the gym after my last post. Booked a Vegas vacation in May... That should give me some motivation to get back in the swing of things. Really hope my knee allows me to run. Feel like the elliptical/bike is not nearly as effective at helping me lose weight as running does.
1050 calories burned with this morning's 105 minute workout. Legs ARE tired!! Blessings..........Pastorjim
Logged 12.5 miles last week. Shooting for at least 15 this week and by adding in another 4 miler. I hope to be able to up it to 20 miles/week by late April. I feel if I can run 30 miles per week, I can finish a 50k in 9 hours with a lot of pain and suffering.
I have never been into the fitness, bit with the weights, gym and all that. Always kept active enough to stay right at the 200 - 210 area. Last winter I got up to 235 and felt it. Then 3 weeks ago I got one of those late winter colds. That took off about12 lbs. Was out taking some old left behind stands down off my lease ground this afternoon. That was a good workout as the ratchets were full of crud and would not release, couple straps were about chewed in to and on the one ladder was in the ground about a foot. Don't know how long that one was up but know it was not used the last 2 years. Will have it in case the owner remembers where he left it some time. One down, one ladder stand and a hang on with sticks to go. Will get them tomorrow. As for the fitness, will stay with my meat, taters and gravy and keep up with the work around the acreage. Pay no attention to calories, carbs or anything else. Blood work just came back and everything is good as usual. Guess I am one of the lucky ones. Turkey season is a month away.
Meal prepped for the week last night. Grilled chicken breasts, white rice, and cauliflower/zucchini made in the air fryer. Seasoning is a life saver. Apples, celery, and carrots as mid morning/mid afternoon snacks. Time to get back at it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Honestly couldn't tell you. No idea. It's amazing though. We cook everything in it. First day back at the gym... My knee didn't hurt while I was on the treadmill. It's a miracle. Excited to get back into the swing of things.
I used to think the same way. It will catch up to you eventually and you will either make more healthy choices, or struggle with weight and health. Father time is a relentless s.o.b. that can't be ignored.
Good luck, thats a pretty ambitious! Mustard and franks redhot sauce are a life saver can breath some life into some chicken with a zero calories price tag. Agree, I enjoy working out and not being a slave to food.
I'm a hot sauce fanatic... I put it on everything. I've moved on from the generic brands like Franks though. I've got about 10 different specialty sauces in my drawer at work. I've got a problem.
75 min. of walking 5 miles and about an hour of weights this morning. Not bad for an old man. Blessings...........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
