Three things I've learned in this regard :
    1) make it a habit / routine. Keeping at it over a 3 week period helps set the routine.
    2) I started working out (regularly) , near age 50. I didn't like how I looked, but had an opportunity to go elk hunting and, frankly wanted to be able to keep up and have an enjoyable opportunity. Goal setting, (lose 50#, 10k steps a day) and reward (go elk hunt) was a winning combo to motivate and build my mental & physical endurance.
    3) after that first elk hunt and the opportunity arose for the next year, I learned (a bit the hard way), it was easier to keep my fitness habit year round... Year, I pack on 10 more lbs for the holidays and winter...but it's easier for me to drop than the 50+ I've already lost.

On top of all the medical benefits, self image, and quality of life stiff, that's also important.

So no one is talking about something I mentioned months ago.
How long before the land grab starts? See pull up some pics of solar and wind " farms". They hate dairy , hog, chicken farms. They don't want any of this on fed and state lands. They don't like tractors,livestock...eminate domain...too bad you said no , it's for the public good. This is an emergency!! cutting field production to make room for solar panels. This will cut livestock production win win for the climate warriors and Animal right warriors.
I give them 18 mos, let the games begin.

I think we all feel that way at times. This is how I deal with it. I think of how I will feel if I don't go. It's not good! I always say this: I never regret it after I'm finished but I sure do regret it, if I didn't start. In other words, NO REGRETS!

For sure, it’s not enjoyable much of the time. I don’t enjoy going to work some days either. It’s just something that needs to be done.
I don’t quit meeting my macro/calorie goals and training because I’m not OK with the alternative. That’s the only reason. When you decide you want to hold yourself to a higher standard for whatever reason then you won’t quit. I like the way I look and feel and I’m very active. These things are important to me but maybe they aren’t that important to you.
Let’s face it the bar is set pretty low and it’s easy to fall into that mind set and say why bother. YOU have to find a reason not to.
    Good luck, stay after it!

This is great advice. In my early 20's I was powerlifting. I was fat but gosh was I strong. Around 24 I decided to give bodybuilding a go. Lost a lot of fat and strength, however, I felt so good and looked good. When I hit my early 30's I had kids and was married and walked away from the weights for almost 10 years.. fat and out of shape. I got tired of it. Began lifting again about 5 years ago or so and then the divorce hit....that motivated me to go even further with diet and workouts. I am in the best shape of my life at 45. It's part of my daily living now. clean diet, run, lift, hunt, fish, raising two boys on my own. Sometimes we need a kick in the ass...

That would kick my butt! I still apply the bodybuilding approach to my workouts. chest one day, back one day, shoulders one day, and chest a second day in there somewhere. I bypass the leg day.. I hate leg days, so therefore I neglect them! Running 4-5 times a week keeps my legs in shape so I just am not going to torture myself with squats, leg presses, lunges, etc... 85% of our body composition is made in the kitchen. You will never outwork a bad diet. I think most people give up just before the results start to come. I also know that many are not true to their daily calorie goals. It's simple. Burn more calories than you take in and you will be leaner. Eat more than you burn, you gain fat. So for me, and this can be applied to anyone with a calorie calculator, I weigh in at 150-152 lbs average. I am 5'6. 45 yrs old. I zig zag calories. 6 days a week I stay between 1600-2100. On Sunday, I don't count. but it's way over that. If I want to maintain my current weight I need roughly 2000 calories a day. If I want to drop, I need to eat about 1600 a day everyday. If I want to gain, I need to eat above 2100 everyday. so I have found that alternating days between 1600-2100 I stay about where I want to be. try this...

You are absolutely right about this. We make it so complicated and have all these formulas when it's really so simple. Calories in, calories burned.

Well today was another day of shoveling for only two hours because it's 10 degrees and I can keep my body warm, not my eyes. Which eventually felt frozen.

Been steady with the workouts. Been helping my youngest daughter get faster and run sprints of 25 yds to 400 yds with her. I hurt after those runs.

Good to see everyone getting after it. Trainings going ok for me. Lost a couple days due to my second covid vaccination. Been doing more upper body this past week as my knees were still angry from skiing. Going to try a short run this afternoon if I don't get called into work. Stay after it!

Did the second dose make you sick? I noticed I was very dizzy the day of the second dose and a little less dizzy the next day with a slight headache on and off. I did workouts both days but it was tough. I was so dizzy the first day, I almost fell a couple of times.

Oh wow Jim not good. Glad you didn’t fall. I had my second shot on Monday afternoon. I woke up Tuesday and could hardly get out of bed. Just fatigued, chills, mild body aches. Felt pretty lousy, slept like a rock Tuesday night. Felt good enough to train a little Wednesday evening. I felt fine after the first shot. Glad to have that over with.
