Day 28 Update: I'm finally feeling pretty much back to normal. I get these annoying stitches out of my mouth on Monday, and hopefully, it'll be smooth sailing after that.

Last night, I rucked my regular 2.8 miles around the lake as the sun was setting. I raw-dogged it with no music or podcasts—just me and my thoughts.

This morning I hit the stairs pretty hard for 30 minutes then did a quick upper body workout. I went higher weight (for me) and lower reps on the flat bench, skull crushers and incline bench.

I'll be spending the next 2 days scouting some Iowa public land with my buddy and plan on getting plenty of miles on the boots for my workouts.

Since I'll be gone this weekend, I weighed in this morning at 203.1. I'm down about 9.5 lbs in the four weeks, which is slightly ahead of pace for my goal of 20 lbs by the end of Day 75.

My legs are finally back. Toughened up. Can run, walk hills, and get after it.

Justin, good luck on the scouting. Find an 80 inch shed!

Official Friday weigh in for me had me just shy of thirty-five lbs lost, but post workout(thirty minute HIT followed by an hour on the treadmill) weigh in this morning got me pumped! Image1742644892.369538.jpg

    Day 31 Update.

I went to Iowa this weekend with a friend of mine to scout public land in preparation for hopefully drawing tags in 2026. In two days we walked just shy of 20 miles between 4 different pieces of ground, and didn't even put a dent into what's there. I brought two gallons of water and packed food for myself, so everything was nice and easy.

My calves are cooked from going up and down all of those hills so I skipped the stairs this morning and went elliptical instead. 30 minutes / 3.75 miles followed by dips, chest flies, incline press, skull crushers, cable crunches and side raises.

We leave for Wisconsin Dells on either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning so I'll have to do the same thing with water and meal planning. My workout routine will be to get up early and ruck before the trade show, then go on a regular walk/hike after the show at night.

Weather is finally getting better and spring is right around the corner. Figured today was the day to start my daily cardio again after an 6 month hiatus.

Time to get the diet and workouts back on track. I really shouldn’t slack off as much as I do during the winter. My lungs and legs are toast after a 2 mile jog outside.

I rucked 2.75 miles last night even though my legs begged me not to. Gotta do hard stuff sometimes to show your inner sissy who is boss.

This morning, I spent 30 minutes on the stairs, followed by leg extensions, leg presses, and my favorite weighted split squats. For the first time in a while, I loaded up 450 lbs on the leg press, and it felt good. Gotta keep these old man legs strong.

I physically feel fine but I'm still dealing with some lingering lung issues from being sick last week. Wheezing and coughing up some crap when I really get things going. It is what it is!

Oh, and I finally got the stitches out of my mouth yesterday. Talk about one of the most annoying things of all time.

I hiked right after work last night because I had to haul butt to get my son to a last-minute indoor baseball game last night, where his team proceeded to get their asses kicked. The game didn't end until after 10, and it was after 11 by the time we got home and after 11:30 when I finally crawled in bed.

This morning I decided to forego the cardio and only lift weights. I did dips, flat bench, chest flies, incline bench, tricep extensions, cable crunches, and cable side twists.

I have a free evening for once so I'll ruck around the lake before dark.

My life is so much better in every way when I avoid copious amounts of sugar and processed carbs. The first time I ever cut sugar was definitely the hardest. It seems like every time since then my body understands what's happening and adjusts much quicker.

Kicking butt guys! Keep it up!

I got another decent ride in on Tuesday. Although i didn't feel like i did. I got that nasty cold and crap in my lungs like lots of other people. Decided to see if a ride would help knock it out. Felt weak and sore most of the ride, and my lungs were burning. Felt slow, but my numbers said otherwise. Was my fastest ride yet of the year. Screenshot_20250327_071658_Strava.jpg

    Day 34

It was nice outside last night, so I changed plans and played basketball with my kids for an hour instead of going on a ruck. I can still whoop up on the 8 and 10-year-olds, but my soon-to-be 13-year-old is a handful. Little punk has a lot more burst and a much quicker recovery than I do.

This morning I was set on getting some stair work in, but all of the machines were taken when I got to the gym. I jumped on the elliptical and a machine finally opened up when I was 20 minutes in, but I decided to just finish out my 30 minutes and go lift afterward.

Tonight, I'm rucking for sure, no matter what my kids say. I have to get up a little extra early tomorrow for my workout, as we want to hit the road for the trade show by 7 a.m. So I'll probably get up at 4:45 and do a 45-minute ride on the spin bike at home. I'm also going to weigh in tomorrow since I won't be home until Sunday night.
