I don't think alot of people realize how serious it is to become dehydrated. I worked in hospitals for many years and I know I didn't realize the severity of it until it happened to me after having covid the first time. I got up one morning and felt weird. I walked into my kitchen to get a water and passed out, the only time I've ever passed out in my whole life. You literally feel like you're dieing, you become disoriented and lethargic. It is serious business and you have to be careful. That was the reason I called for the ambulance when I was traveling last week. I thought I might pass out before I could reach the hospital. I don't want to ever experience that again.

I'm usually hydrated but man I've hunted many a day where I was dragging so bad coming out of the woods I thought I'd never make it. Dehydration and concrete legs. Not fun.

Been running and upping strength training, particularly my legs. Lost power during hunting season. Also been working on my hip flexibility...I can go down into a full low squat, hold it for 20 seconds, and stand without any pain. Been many years.

Took a mini break from hard cardio today and lifted instead. I started with stretching and 10 minutes on the stairs at a moderate pace to break a sweat and get the HR up. Today was push day - flat bench, dips, incline dumbbell press, skull crushers and chest flies. Rounded it out with a little bit of core work. Nothing too crazy.

Tomorrow will either be rest, spin class on my bike at home, or kettlebell HIIT at home. I haven't quite decided yet.

I've passed out several times from dehydration and "heat exhaustion " last time I came to with flies in my mouth....cured for dumbness at that point. I wear a camel pack now or hook a bottle to my pant belt loop

For sure Jim. It’s also easier to become dehydrated when you’re “older”.

I went back to gym this morning but only for about an hour. Felt a little rubbery legged and slightly weak when I left but it was a good start after last week.

Legs are cooked so I took a rest day. Got an extra hour of sleep, ate a couple of eggs, and got to see my kids for a little bit before school. I'll take the win and be back after it tomorrow to end the work week.

Let's go, boys! Happy Friday! Pushed the old man heart this morning and got in 233 flights of stairs and followed it up with some leg work. Leg presses, leg curls, weighted step ups and single leg toe touches with dumbbells. I haven't done that one in awhile so my balance wasn't great today. I definitely need to work that into the routine more often.

Im still at it. I got some not stellar blood work done this week. So time to adjust the diet. My cholesterol levels went up a good bit. Not overly high, but enough that i need to do something. Getting off the carnivore diet for now, all thought i never did it fully. Just a heavy meat based diet. So now i got gout and high cholesterol. Yeah!

Im still pushing hard on the bike trainer 3 times a week and 3 day a week I do my pushups, dead hangs, misc lower back and sholder exercises with light dumbells. Really noticeable difference from a month ago. Starting to feel easy and time to step it up. Also started gaining weight, i believe its from gaining muscle.

Yesterday was a killer.. shoveled entire drive 2x's. Then decided to open a truck wide path to the coop and took 8" of packed snow off the roof of 20x12 canvas barn. That one got my back and shoulders.
Today I shoveled the mailbox again. Then opened end of coop drive and the length of drive to where it opens into parking and turnaround.
Son came to cut wood so I went out to give dogs a good run and helped him ,load the Gator up.
So cardio and weights. Still coughing and mucus bound and still taking meds.

    Here's my honesty
I love shoveling, actually love ace breaking hard work. Age will never stop that, aches, pains, accidents.
Now here's my thoughts and what I've told my family. I prefer to work myself into the grave even be it earlier than one would want. This over lingering needing care by others all the time. Quality of time over just more time regardless.
Now my final truth money..My hubby, family should never have to worry about me being a finacial burden. I have been, well, cheap all my life. No way in this world will I EVER be OK with debt keeping a shell of me around.
That's me, now my family is differet. I'd sell my organs to keep them around, if they want or needed.
    PS I'll add this
    My written end requests
    1) Donate what is viable
    2) Absolutely NO FUNERAL
    3) Remains in a cardboard/wooden box , NO CASKET!!!!!! To be cremated
    4) toss me out in the woods , this allows me one last chance at growing something

Don’t forget about sugar, it plays a large role. Cut out the sugar and alcohol before cutting out protein. Lean muscle mass is your friend and that needs protein (and resistance training). Getting older is fun.
