    "This getting old stuff sucks."
Beats the alternative. Bumper sticker- Eat right, Stay fit, Die anyway. I always ponder how many "fit" people were in the World Trade Center?

So I walked 5.8 miles blowing the driveway today, walked another 1/2 mile to feed the deer blazing a trail thru the snow, pushed the wheelbarrow full of horse crap up hill to the heap thru the new 12" of snow, I was sweating like a fat kid, good work out.

According to my phones tracking I walked 4.2 miles snow blowing and getting the animals dug out. My lower back sure is sore today.

After I got done with the snow I headed right to the barn I was wet with sweat and didn't want to take my gear off and then put it back on all wet. I am amazed the PT and core strengthening has really helped I am not sore at all.

I 'll admit been slacking with my annual mid winter blues. Winds have stopped wood lot work, hikes have been shorter the elliptical is looking a bit dusty. Happens every single year about now.

I used to hit it hard the first of the year getting in shape for fire season, prepping for the pack test to not just pass it but to go fast. Not this year I plan on working just enough shifts to be the incident commander on a named fire and retiring not even bothering to continue overseeing operations and calling the fire out. There is a flask in my pack as well. Last fire I name will the the Fire Water Burn Fire. By the time they figure it out I will be retired and giving the clean shirts the finger.

So today in these winds and snow I shoveled that 300 ft driveway. Between that and tree trimming yesterday I've broken those blues. I am getting the suspension gym hooked up and will start a morning routine. I ordered the sit drag to start my saddle hunting adventure and need to get my core, arms, back and thighs in shape. I also want to do more kayaking this year. I turn 61 in a month and times not waiting for me,so theres no sense in waiting around for ,well anything.

You CAN do this. I'm 64 and started my program 4 years ago. From going from not being able to do even 1 sit-up I did 200 this morning. I do 2hrs of cardio and about 30-45 minutes of weight training three times a week. I lost over 100lbs and my strength and stamina are through the roof. You do this and the only regret you will have is not starting sooner. Good luck to you!!

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

Started at 230lbs 6 weeks ago. At 237 now. Doing 15 to 20 min of cardio a week and lifting maybe 3 times for 45 min. Every other week I'll walk about 10 miles. Been really focusing on my legs and as a result I'm putting on a lot of muscle. At some pt I'll flatten out and start coming back down once this fat and muscle changes out a bit.

Thanks, actually when I tore out my ACL 4 yrs ago they had me in therapy not surgery . I then joined the gym and 3 days a week I was working out 3-4 hrs a day for 2 yrs. When I left I was doing 12- 16 miles a day on a combination of bike ,tredmill and elliptical. 100 sit ups crazy bridges and lots of weight lifting. Then 2 mile hike every off day. In two years lost a whopping 30#'s ,LOL. I actually lost more weight by taking a daily B12 pill. I have always hiked at least a dedicated mile around our hill rain or shine everyday. Then add the ton of timber, gardening work every day. Fence building, plot building ect, ect. I'll always be big of that there is no doubt. Though there is no doubt I will be tossing around 50#bags of feed ,seed, and fertilizer without breaking a sweat for several years to come.
I have had several major accidents in my life and have some medical issues that are genetic in nature. So if I can keep my muscles strong enough to handle the connective issues I can be happy. The Dr.s tell me arthritis is setting in many of these injuries , so just staying in motion is a goal for me.
I drive my husband nuts on weekends, he'll say how long a hike you taking , "Oh not long an hour" . Well I can't let a job seen go unworked, 3-4 hour later I show up tired ,dirty ,and smelly. I can say I love good hard work.

Are you saying they should have been fat, lazy, and miserable their whole life because they were going to die anyway?

In case anyone is wondering, the beyond raw brand creatine hcl is disgusting ha. I just picked some up Saturday and today was first day trying it. Usually mix creatine with pre workout but threw this in with a protein shake before went to gym. Lets just say if you've ever had the rotten egg jellybean that would be close to the taste.

On serious note, I started off losing about 15 pounds month ago when started hitting the gym 4 times a week, now I've kinda leveled out. Hanging right around 235-240 as of now which is down from 250. But have noticed starting to add weight to most lifts. Shoulder pain kinda flared up tongith tho so gonna haveta take it easy on that next couple days. Have feeling one these days gonna haveta break down and get it looked at.

Shoulder issues stink, but band exercises used for physical therapy can help a lot. My right shoulder has dislocated way more times than I care to remember. The suspension exercises have been great for that and my left arm as well . That is the elbow dislocation. I can isolate those supportive muscles well using it.
That said if it really bothers you have it checked. My general Dr. Is actually a sports medicine Dr.. I see him every 6 mos. . Went in one April and said ya my shoulder has been really bothering me ,the last 3 mos. So he lefts it ouch!! feels the joint on a rotation. WTH!! Then yanks it with a pop. Turns to me and said it's been dislocated
for 3 mos. Then says stop waiting so long!! Stuff like that invites arthritis.

Yea I've had trouble with my right shoulder for quit awhile. I did something to it probably 7 or 8 years ago while playing softball. Only real problem I can tell is possibly tearing something. Most the time is doesn't bother me except from tightness and somewhat limited movement. But I'll tweak it every now and then and will hurt like hell for couple days and be kinda weak. More stubbornly than anything I've never got it looked but feel as get older should probably do something before it really starts causing problems.
