Passed all tests today for the Sheriff's department. I move on to the interviews now. One guy collapsed with heart issues during the run and had to be taken by EMS, scary stuff.

Yeah definitely a bummer for him, he was kicking butt on the track but two laps in he just collapsed. This is for Wells county.

Well, I did it, guys! Hit my goal and had a great race. I forgot to turn on my strava before the race, so I missed a couple of miles. Ended up with just over 50 miles in the race. My goal was to complete 7 laps, and I made it! Ended up taking 3 rd place and got on the podium. I was in 2nd for most of the race and got pasted on the last 2 miles. Overall, I didn't care what I finished in the race. I just want to hit my times and make that 7th lap. It was painful. I actually had to go to my truck after the race, and I laid in the cool grass under my truck. My whole body started cramping and was shaking uncontrollable. Was a little scary for a bit. After 10 minutes of that, I was able to get to my feet and get dressed. Definitely went over my limit. Screenshot_20240428_185236_Strava.jpg Screenshot_20240428_182004_Strava.jpg

I don't want to sound like a preaching old man but find a single dr that you like and get yearly physicals once you hit 45. I have an issue that could have become a serious issue but it was found early and there was baseline data in my file. Oh and getting old sucks too, but on the bright side there is a blood test for prostrate cancer now.

Got a good MTB ride in last night. Strava messed up and didn't record it all. I also got on the trainer for 30 minutes on Monday night just to work my legs and try get the lactic acid out of them. Legs are still very muscle sore from Sundays race. I was very surprised how good I felt last night.

    19.4 miles
2 hours 6 minutes ride time.

What's up fellas? Your resident fatboy checking in! Last weekend was a whirlwind with a fishing trip and massive quantities of kids baseball all weekend so I didn't get any official workouts in. Yesterday I was wiped out so I skipped the morning workout. Today I was determined to get back after it.

30 minutes / 236 flights of stairs followed by leg day. I believe I did leg press, farmer carries, weighted step-ups, split squats and single leg toe touches or some combination of those things. Feeling good! Tomorrow will be back/shoulders aka "pull day".

Haven't checked in lately, but the routine continues. Chest and back today, but avoided lower back. I hurt something in my lower back about 12 days ago. Missed squats last week to heal and I had taken a week off from it the prior week. Long story short, I won't get to 225 for 10x10 by my goal date. It ok tho. Just a matter of time and makes the good days seem even better.

Good job guys! Keep at it. It's so hard this time of year. So much other fun stuff gets in the way.

I'm still doing some type of workout 4 - 5 times a week. Mostly light weight or body weight type workouts. Push-ups, dead hangs type stuff. Will get my mtb ride in tonight.

Got another goal for my self and might test it in about 2 weeks. Plan to ride as long as I can non stop, other then for refuel and bathroom. Goal is for that 10-12 hour range. Never attempted anything like it in my life. Kind of just want to try it and see what I'm made of. Also plan to have other bikers meet up with me thru out the day to make it more fun. Plan to start at 7 in the morning and go hopefully to dark. I feel alittle crazy just typing that out.

Back when I was still working at the hospital there was a nurse who her and her husband participated in running marathons. Believe it or not, they signed up for some event where they ran for 12hrs. She did it but when she came back to work, she was pretty much wiped out for a week. Running for 12 hours is insane!!

I'm interested to see what I'm able to do. As of now my longest ride was just over 5 hours. There are many bike races around the country that do 12 or 24 hours. And there are quite a few that do those solo. It's amazing. I always wanted to try something like that. Takes some amazing will power.

Got in a good ride last night. Rode with 6 other riders and had a good time. Got a good 2 hours of riding in. Just got to keep putting in the miles. The rides are starting to become easy and can tell that I need to push myself farther if I want bigger gains. Screenshot_20240508_082428_Strava.jpg

My legs are shot after yesterday so I took it easy on the cardio this morning. Elliptical for 35 minutes / 5 miles followed by back/shoulders work. Lat pulldowns, upright rows, bent over single arm dumbbell rows, endless rope pulldowns, cable side raises, and cable face pulls.

30 minutes / 227 flights this morning. My quads are still pretty sore from those split squats on Tuesday so I wanted to take a day off, but I conquered my inner demons and did it anyways. Followed with chest flies, dips, flat bench, tricep cable pulldowns and overhead extensions and then some core work - cable crunches and side raises. Certainly beats sleeping in!
