It took a little while for the internal furnace to kick back on, but I'm finally seeing a fairly steady weight loss these last couple of weeks. I'm finally back down under 190 again and feeling good. I have just over 30 days to get to my goal weight of 185 by the end of 75 Hard, which I should surpass if I keep this pace. I'm tracking to be in the 183-184 range when I finish up, but still a few lbs from the 180 lb goal I have set for myself this year.

Last night was super windy and my legs were pretty stiff when I got started on my ruck but I still managed a respectable 15:10 pace over 45 minutes @ 55 lbs + pack.

I slept in a little this morning so I cut my stair session down to 20 minutes but increased my intensity and did 155 flights. I thought about pushing for that extra 10 minutes to try and beat my PB, but opted to cool down and go lift instead. Today was wide lat pulldowns, cable rows, upright rows, bent-over dumbbell rows, single-arm landmine presses, and endless rope pulldowns.

Tonight is our "draft" for Little League at 6:30, which means I have exactly 1 hour after work to sneak in a walk/ruck before I go do that.

Awesome Justin! Keep it up and hit that goal!

I had a pretty spirited ride last night despite it being very windy and cold. Went with a group and no one wanted to lead the ride. So I took it on. Pushed pretty hard and hurt a few people. But good thing is people can ride there own pace, because it's a no drop ride, wait for everyone.

Over all felt fast, but need to work on my strength and want to put in more distance. Just ran out of light last night. Also got a 2nd place on a strava segment. My first time being in the top 10. I only need to take off 3 minutes to get first, which is double. Screenshot_20240320_104736_Strava.jpg

Off yesterday from lifting but did 2 miles.

Narrow Pull down, wide lat pull downs, single arm cable rows, cable curls, DB curls. Kinda slacked this morning. I just couldn’t find the gas pedal.

Shamed myself into running 7 miles this afternoon.

More of a health than fitness and perhaps a rant. I have been feeling like crap, wake up at 3:30 or 4 and puke. All day long low energy seems like everything is an effort. I should mention before I puke in the morning and afternoon I get a hot flash, just sucks. I thought it was because of another health issue I have but wanted answers. Normal male blood iron levels 150-300 mine is 3180, magnets could stick to me. 2024 know how the medical field treats it? Blood letting, pint a week wtf. The other dumb thing they dump the blood, how about giving it to an anemic person?

Hemochromatosis, I haven’t seen that in some time. I hope you start to feel better after the phlebotomy treatments. Take care of your liver.

It is funny my Mom had chronic anemia, I am wondering if exposure to something that caused it or genetic, certainly not from drinking, I drink as much as my wife lets me.

Dang, that doesn't sound like fun at all. Hopefully you start feeling better with these treatments. I assume you have to do this forever to keep the iron levels in check?

Day 46 off to a good start for me. 234 flights on the stair bastard this morning, which I believe ties my PB for 30 minutes. Followed with a pretty mild push day of skull crushers, incline dumbbell press, dips, and cable flies. My right shoulder is starting to become a little more irritable so I need to give it a rest for a few days. Thankfully we're going to the Open Season Deer & Turkey expo in WI this weekend so I'll be rucking and walking only - no weights for a few days. Hopefully it calms down by next week.

Yeah it is a chronic deal, hard to believe the solution is taking a few quarts out of the oil pan, but if it works I will be happy.

I’m no expert but I believe it is genetic. I was in no way implying it was from drinking but I know that condition can be hard on the liver and the heart.

Definitely strange, I can’t believe modern medicine didn’t come up with an extremely expense treatment yet. Robotic assisted phlebotomy…hmmm

Didn’t feel like doing my normal work out today.

50 pull ups, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups.

Vo2 max training on the rower(didn’t like) and the fan bike.

Peg board, haven’t done that in years. Will do again.

    I rucked 4 miles last night - 55 lbs @ 15:47/mile

    Rucked 5 miles this morning - 25 lbs @ 15:28/mile

I lightened the load because I was going a bit further than usual and it was only about 8 hours since last night's ruck so I wanted to play it safe and not overdo it. I have 5 hours of trade show to do this evening then back for another ruck tonight.

Great. I woke up to stomach issues and it hasn't let up. Seems I've caught some kind of stuff that ain't remotely fun. Guess I'm skipping the gym today. Not trying to go straining in a public place while fearing...an unfortunate scene.

    Back and Biceps today.

Did my new modified warm up and only a slight touch of bicep stretch. I think I just gotta completely quilt stretching at all in the warm up. I do feel it in the shoulder front joint.

Straight to the assisted Chin up machine, middle gripped not the far wide one. 20 reps 85 pound assisted 2x 2 sets, 70 pounds x 20. Muscle mind working and a pretty quick pump. I'm thinking 20 reps on certain lat movements work better than too heavy forced reps which I feel more in the bicep.

Seated Hammer pull downs individualizing each arm 3 sets 16 reps each arm, to continue to get the old man body looser and more pumped. Front Lat cable pull downs fairly wide grip. 3 sets by 12 reps . Seated rows pulled low to the belt area. 3 sets moderate heavy moving weight up each set. Then lat cable pulls down close grip palms in that also work the bicep which help me loosen the bicep up as wel as gets the lat nicely.

Biceps were 30 pound hammer dumbells 12 reps each arm 3 sets. Preacher curls 75 pounds 12 reps x 3 sets to loosen the bicep up. seated machine curls gravitating up with weight to 100 pounds x 12 reps. Then finished with cable 1 arms curls to flush some blood thru.

Well, we made it back from the Open Season Expo in one piece. Man, I forgot how much work those trade shows are!

Thursday night, I rucked 3 miles @ 55 lbs after we set up the show booth.

Friday morning I rucked 5 miles @ 30 lbs in 19 degrees for my morning workout, then I walked back to our Airbnb from the restaurant after eating dinner that night, which was just over 2.5 miles. Everyone thought I was insane.

Saturday, I did the same 5-mile ruck as Friday but worked to beat my time, which I did by almost 4 minutes.(1:12 versus 1:16). I think it was 21 degrees that morning. Then we worked the show for 9 hours straight; 6 of them I didn't sit down because it was so busy. I chalked that up to my 2nd workout of the day because I'm sure I burned off more than I would have on standard 45 minute hike. I was WIPED at the end of the day. I barely got through my 10 pages of reading before I passed out.

Sunday I got up early, upped the weight back to 55 lbs, and went 3 miles on a different route. After getting home last night I did an easy 45 min on the spin bike.

This morning I wanted to focus a little more on weights and less on cardio so I did a 20 min warm up on the elliptical followed by pull day and core work.

I took the whole weekend off from the gym so I tried to make it up a little this morning. 2.5 hours of cardio has my clothes wringing wet. I might try to sneak in another hour or so later today at the beach. Doing that while I can since I'll be back home in another two weeks.
