Do you feel anything in your shoulder joints doing this ?

I’ve been trying to get to incorporate hangs when I do chin ups on back day. My left shoulder feels like she wants to pop outta joint ? Then when doing chins, it’s a bit cranky. Can’t figure what’s going on yet but it’s been this way for 2-3 months. Warming up slower does help but dead hangs and now recently frontal lat pulls downs if I touch down below the neck to mid chest I feel stress on the left shoulder like she wants to pop out.

I’m trying to figure what to do to strengthen it. If it’s shoulder presses or whatever

I have a shoulder giving me problems. This is the only thing that doesn't hurt it. It did at first, but it's more of a stretching sore. I was doing push ups and that made my shoulder worse. So stopped for a month. Now I can do push ups with no shoulder pain. I also do alot of low weight arm raising exercises. Like only 3 lbs dumbbells, but with lots of reps. I'm gearing my workouts all around rehab, not looking to built muscle though.

My legs & hips were a little cranky from that speed ruck on Sunday, so I took it easy last night - I did a 3-mile walk at a pretty brisk pace with the doggo from 8:45 to 9:30. I enjoy going out later at night when there is nobody around and the world is a lot quieter than usual. It's peaceful.

This morning I was feeling frisky so I kicked it into gear on the stairs - 228 flights in 30 minutes. Not my PB, but it's pretty close. HR was peaking into the low 170s for the final 5-6 minutes. Once I cooled off from that I hit legs and some core work. Total workout time right about 1:15 and roughly 1,000 calories burned.

I'm just over 3 weeks into 75 Hard, and I'm down around 5 lbs, which is right where I want to be. My goal is to drop 15 lbs over the course of the 75 days, and I'm on track to hit that number. My focus this time around isn't as much weight loss as it is getting back into better overall health, both mentally and physically.

I finished up The Comfort Crisis yesterday and started in on The Status Game for my next book.

I would be seeing an ortho doc and getting an MRI if I was feeling that. I have pain but the joint feels pretty stable.

Well at my age things come and go but this seems to be something besides an old man ache.

I was just contacted by my Doc for an annual.

Priority is my neck shoulder. Another hemroid been bugging me. Last time they put 2 of them in elastic bands. 5 days like brand new. Almost passed out during the ordeal but once done I was pleased 5 days later. No cutting no blood no stitches no needles. The neck needs some attention for sure won’t heal. It’s gotta be a hot tendon but in a difficult spot where I’m not allowing a cortisone shot period !

So if they MRI me I’ll throw the shoulder in too maybe both to check what they look like.

40 pound DB hammers ? 175 pound power cleans ? Plus jumping 2 feet ? If you’re white you should be on a Wheaties box.

    Lol

I'm in great cardio shape but I could stand to drop some fat and build a little more muscle - which is increasingly more difficult with each passing year.

Currently hanging in at 193 lbs - my goal is to get down to 180 and maintain that until the end of the year. Keeping in mind I was almost 230 on Feb 1st last year I feel like I'm doing pretty well.

All Doc appointments are done for the year. I'm in good shape thus far, a few test results need to come in.
I say this even though I've been diagnosed with Dutrupins contractures disease and gained 10 #'s!! since Jan 6.
The only thing I've done different is started cutting timber, hauling tops to fencing ,trimming trees, working the garden and walking the dog more. In other words being way more active and working harder

I also learned a few things, as you get older caffeine and carbonated drinks are big irritations to your bladder. Thus my up a couple of times a night. I drink a lot of seltzer water...Hhhmmmm back to plain water again.

Just for you guys I did 2 x 1 minute dead hangs this morning. The issue I have with these is the inside of my elbows - it feels like my tendons are going to tear apart by the time I'm done. Hands and shoulders feel good, just the elbows that start barking.

Glutes and hips are mad from yesterdays stairs/leg day so I took it easy on the elliptical this morning to get the blood flowing - 4.5 miles in 32 minutes. Followed by dead hangs for the heck of it then push day - dips, flat bench, incline bench, tricep extensions, push ups and some incline situps to finish it off. I like to mix in at least a little bit of core work at the end of every workout.

Sounds like you may have the beginnings of biceps tendonitis. Are you doing more elbow flexion exercises than elbow extension exercises when you lift? AKA more Bis than Tris, in laymen's terms.

I'm pretty even on my workouts - I do a standard push/pull/legs split. I don't have any issues doing anything else, it's just the last few seconds of those dead hangs where things start to burn. I regularly do farmer carries with 45 lb plates in each hand and walk around the track, and near the end of those I'll get a similar feeling. It doesn't last long or linger after I've recovered, just happens under load for extended periods of time.

Light Conditioning today, everything was done as a Tabata

Tabata #1: pull ups alternated with BW squats
Tabata #2: med ball slams alternated with jump rope
Tabata #3 med ball bench press alternated with jump rope

    Light walk for 20 minutes

I agree being I had tendinitis in there and biceps for over 50 years.

I posted how I somehow got it fixed. I thought I needed Tommy John surgery.

All I did was started using collagen protein in my coffee ( for really my knee and shoulder) , warming up before lifting then stretching the elbow /bicep.

My pain started in elbow, traveled thru the whole bicep and where the bicep attached to the shoulder both long and short heads.

90% fixed now. After 50+ years of pain I feel like a new man. No surgery.

Well you pushed the old man to try to up his game on hammer dumbbell curls.

So yesterday as I said I’d try after doing back. I finish up lats/back with palms in close grip lat pull downs according to Mike Mentzer a single best bicep movement. I do these last to loosen the biceps. Works.

After that, normal rest to start biceps. Little bicep stretching then 30 pound hammers. I like hammers first because they bring blood all thru the arm as well as the bicep. People with elbow tendonitis ? Try these for some blood to loosen you up before your dead weight chin hangs ?

I did the 30’s. 12 reps each arm. Customary fashion.

Next ? My boy Cantexian 40’s. My GF was filming from home being we were on a WhatsApp call.

40’s felt heavier but still ok. No problems. No pain, no stiffness. Sure a little swing but who cares. Got 12 each arm. Thanks again Cantexian !!!

Old man wasn’t done. Brain storming I thought when I do flat or incline dumbbells using 95 pounders, I don’t leg kick up the dumbbells afraid my knees scream. So I swing them up sitting down kinda hammer style onto my lap.

So if I can swing 95, why can’t I get 50’s standing up ? GF says do it. Now I got no choice.

So I did 50’s thinking I’d die around 6-8 reps. Got my standard heavy weight 12 reps. Felt it a little in the lower back, granted. But felt good. My arms were tingling bicep all thru the bracs. I mean the best hammer pump and old man can get. A little stiff arthritis in the hands which is normal but man did it feel like I had a nice strong grip for most of the reps. I recall losing my grip around rep 8 and then bearing down to grip tighter and actually had the strength.

Frankly I’m amazed could care less about the form.

She recorded it I’ll try to post it and you all can flame me on my form. I don’t care. I got it done and the pump was money. It might have hurt archery later a bit.

BTW I know I’m gonna get razzed on the shorts. Just in case you don’t know , now you know. They are TAC Hunt and Fish Wear.
