Haven’t worked out since Monday, I caught the head cold my son brought home from school. So I am taking easy and resting. I want to hunt the first cold front of the fall this weekend. Even without working out, the last two days my step count has been over 14500. My job just keeps me that active even when I am trying to take it easy.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a cold brought home from school! I did manage to workout Mon, Tues and Weds at least. I took today off to let my legs recover since I'm planning on an intense kettlebell workout tomorrow morning.

My wife is out of town until Monday night so I'm on dad duty and have a bunch of projects I want to get done around the house in her absence. I may try to squeeze in a few spin bike rides over the weekend, but no promises.

My diet needs to tighten up a bit. Starts with buying the correct foods.

My diet is on point from 5 am to 6 pm every day, and then it jumps the track and careens into a pile of ice cream and Oreos.

I got hit with that nasty head cold also this past week. It's still holding on. Unfortunately the rest of the house is getting it also.

The only exercise I got was last night. Took my daughter to her soccer practice. Decided to take the dog to get him out the house. While she was at practice, I jogged around the soccer fields with the dog. I not much of a runner, but at least it was something.

I've noticed that isn't a bad way to do it. I seem to gain very little weight if I hold tight with low carbs for 20 hrs or so then eat some over an hour or so at night. I'm really close to making another good 5lb weight loss jump to 220lbs. 220 would put me at 22 lbs down since Jan 1. I need to make the push.

1 week off blood pressure meds and nothing but green lights on the monitor. Next up off the anxiety meds. Give me a couple more weeks and I am going to shoot my bow, see if I can hold a pin again.

So I’m seeing lotsa diet wrong or needing adjustment answers ?

Let’s not forget the first place to get “diet food” is bow hunting. Nothing cleaner than wild game or fish.

I’m curious as to how everyone prefers to “diet” ?

Myself I’d call myself a “Macros” eater.

Lean protein meat, preferably wild game. Deer, hog ? Turkey, bison , water Buffalo etc.

Preferably a non glycemic carbohydrate ( sweet potato, Yam )so there’s no crashing. Carbs also assist protein digestion.

Fats good fats. Butter for example is not bad in moderation.

Chicken breast is a staple for me when I’m not able to eat wild meat.

I count total calories(1800 to 2400) and protein (1g/lb body weight min).

I don’t have any restrictions but gravitate towards certain foods and away from others because of their make up. The most important thing in my opinion is sustainability. Find what works for you and keep doing it.

I too only count calories. That way if there's something you crave, you can have it in moderation, it just has to fit your daily count. Then you don't feel like you're constantly denying yourself. IMO it is the best way to sustain eating properly. And sustainability is the key to long term weight loss.

Yesterday I had my worst diet day in months. I craved carbs so bad it was unreal. For two days prior I had really lowered my levels.

My wife got back in town on Monday night from her trip to Pennsylvania, which effectively ended my four-day streak of not working out and eating like crap. Yesterday was stairs/legs, and today was elliptical/pull (back/shoulders) day. Tomorrow will be stairs and push day.

I got my son's deer fully cut and ground up this weekend and used the first couple of pounds to prep my lunches for the rest of this week. I got about 30 pounds of ground off that deer, which should last me into early 2024.

I took the majority of the hind quarters and made them into jerky, as I still have a bunch of roasts in the freezer from last year. That should make for much better treestand snacks than my typical pop-tarts and zebra cakes once I actually get the opportunity to go hunting.
