I hope so. My 12-year-old decided to trash talk me so I shut up him by knocking out my 40 push ups without stopping.

Justin, no shame in what you've accomplished. I also gave up adult beverages when I started, to be more clear I stop buying them I did have the occasional bourbon until I ran out. Then I had no drinks at all for just over a month until I took the kids to the cabin and I enjoyed some homemade blackberry wine.

I broke and ended up buying some bourbon to have for evening enjoyment after putting the kids to bed. I'm passing on beers which can be high in calories (typical lager around 200 calories and typical bourbon around 90 calories)
Plus who ever just has 1 beer?

I was stuck at 203 for several days hit 202 today. Hoping to see that first number be a 1 in the near future

Well boys preseason started for my girls. I'll be running them twice a day for the next 3 weeks until school starts on the 7th. We are doing 1000 calf raises and then 500 squats ( body weight only ) everyday. Then running drills and game play tactics. I make them bring a change of shirts as we are in a private school without AC so 2 hrs in we collectively smell like an Italian sub with oil and vinegar.
I started the routine yesterday to make sure it's not too tough and if a 44 yr old lardass can do it they should be fine.

My friend lives not far from Boston harbor. But time to acclimate is clutch. I think he was aydin 500th place, but like you said, competing AND finishing!

A few weeks prior it looked like they had a training camp... spent days riding portions of the course and nearby trails...sponsors and coaching speakers/sessions...not sure if that was extra $, but good prep all the same.

I have seen that alot of the pros go out a full month before. Then start training at the base. Then each week move up few thousand feet and train for a week. They repeat this til they acclimated. All that for a race. This year the record was broken. The guy did 105 miles around 5 hours 45 minutes, destroying the record. Absolutely insane speed.

Race completed! I hit my goal almost perfect and had a amazing race. One of the hardest rides I've ever done.

Race for 4 hours 37 minutes. Did 6 laps and my bike odometer showed 47 miles!

Came in 4th place in my category and 20th out of 51 racers overall.

I did run strava during the race and I always have a discrepancy between my direct ground contact odometer and the GPS of strava. It showed a little over 42 miles.

This ride destroyed me. I don't even hardly remember the last lap. It was a pain that I haven't experienced in a long time. But had a blast and would do it again. Best part was being greeted by my girls at the finish. Screenshot_20230819_154613_Strava.jpg IMG_20230819_194736.jpg

Last couple of days have been good. 2 miles kayaking, 2 miles running, 2 miles walking...and mixed in some strength training.

So my best friends daughter got married and subsequently I got white girl wasted as it's the first if my friends to have a child marriage. Looks like I'm starting over tomorrow... Lost my streak for 75. But it was worth it. You need to restore the soul every once in a while [IMG]

Saturday I woke up at 4 am to be on the lake by 5:30. I fished until 10:30, then hauled ass home to grab my son and head to football scrimmage games. After that, I hit the gym for a quick 45-minute workout. 20-minute sprint session on the stairs followed by push (chest) day. Then I hung out at the pool at the gym for a couple of hours with the wife and kids.

Yesterday I skipped working out to work on my bow and arrow setup for this fall. I built some new arrows, re-tied my nock points and string loop to clean up some nock pinch, and then paper-tuned and sighted in at 20 yards. Then my son had a baseball double-header in the sweltering heat, which sapped any remaining energy I may have had for an afternoon workout session. So I just shot my bow again.

This morning I was back at the gym bright and early! Thirty minutes on the stairs / 221 flights (missed PB by 1 flight) followed by leg day. Weighted step-ups, farmer carries, deadlifts, leg presses, and calf raises.

This pic shows all the stats from the ride. Surprisingly I didn't feel to bad on Sunday. I spent 3 1/2 hours in a skid steer on Sunday digging footers for a garage. That beat me up worse then the race. Today I'm feeling pretty bad from the long weekend. Plan to keep after the bike riding and ride tomorrow.

Also I put together my wife's old mountain bike and my oldest daughter wanted to ride it. We rode around the yard and woods for about a hour, and she loved it! Think I got a new biking buddy in the works! This was her first time riding a mountain bike, all she ever rode was her kiddy bike that she's about out grown. Screenshot_20230821_102624_Strava.jpg

    walking actual stairs sucks
went from 5th floor to lobby to 15th to lobby
that'll show you you're not actually in any sort of decent cardiovascular shape
