I tried to eat low carb when I started back biking, but I suffered big time. Now I eat carbs on big workout days and try and be low carb on my days off. Seems to be working well for me. My biggest and fastest improvement I have ever made is fueling/eating almost too much food before and during workouts. My energy stays up almost the whole time. Also not hungry after the workout. So I don't go home and binge eat. Actually I'm losing weight slowly this way.

It took months to build up my food levels, other wise you get sick if not use to it. My goal is about 400 calories/ 100 grams carbs per hour now.

I think my fat calories are too low. I need to decrease my protein and up the fat. I will say this, within 5 days of changing my diet my stomach feels a ton better. My overall snack type hunger has decreased. Have to keep playing around to figure out what is the correct amount of protein/fat/carbs that are good for my body. I can already tell this will help me.

It's crazy how different everyone's bodies are. I never eat before my walks/runs and as of recently have been eating only dinner during the week (protein/veggie/rice). I've always been a little eater though. My GF makes fun of me because I can never finish a meal when we go out, etc.

Got 4.85 miles in today at 51:47 with a 10:41/mile (my fastest time on this route). I think I ran close to 2.75 miles and walked the rest.

    Keep grinding everyone!

Well...legs sucked. So much ground lost. I don't think I mentioned here that I had complications with my T pellets extruding back out. I haven't done legs in about 2 months because it made all that worse. Anyway, squats for 40 reps at 95 pounds x 2 sets, 20 reps close together, 20 sumo per set no rest between close and sumo per set. (Clear as mud?). Seated extensions and then leg curls 3x8. All in 30 minutes. Yep still hate leg day.

On the diet front, I'm still low carb, high protein and good fats. I have no rigid rules, but that's the guideline. I'm now at 175 after losing some muscle, but I feel solid...except my puny legs, bless em. I do have to throw carbs in on days I do legs or back. Genetically I'm lucky. I've always kind of been able to just eat whatever and stay pretty lean, but 175 at 5-9...never thought I'd see that again. Hell I'm 46

Lately ive been reading about fasting and how it can help restore/improve brain cell function. Also kidney and liver detoxification.

I played two softball games last night for the first time in a couple of years, and my legs are not happy this morning. So I skipped the bike this morning and did some minor body weight and resistance band work. Nothing too crazy, just keeping things moving a bit. Followed it with an omelet, a couple pieces of breakfast sausage and a protein coffee. Now it's time to push a mouse around for a few hours before skipping town.

I have to mention. Watching the last few episodes of BHOD you can certainly tell that you have lost weight/have toned down even from last fall.

87 and humid today. Get done with these meetings and then get my daily cardio in.

It's hot here! Got in a 2 mile run before it hits 105.

Came inches from getting hit by a truck in a crosswalk today. I was running and it looked like she was slowing down/stopping so I didn't slow down. I had to kick it down and jump out of the way. Head down in her phone. I guess I will need to be more careful moving forward.

You guys track your steps at all? Seems super trivial but for a guy like me who works at my desk at home all day every day I’ve been tracking since I’ve started cardio. Before I started I was maxing maybe 5000 steps a day. The last 3 days I’m at 39,000. Gives a guy the tiniest motivation to keep going

Yes, I always I do. Like you said, it's a great motivator. Example; if I see myself at say 12,500 for the day, I'm going to do something to get to 14,000 for that day. It's like I'm always competing against it.

I'm a remote desk worker too. I stopped wearing the watch that counts for me and bought a row machine and a stationary bike in my garage to get the movement but the best thing I ever did was migrate to the standing desk.

Light day today. Just did one lap instead of 2. Still got my mile+ run in which I what I strive for. Now 3 full days at the lake with terrible food and lots of adult beverages. Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!
