    Ride #3 on mountain bike.

    20.7 miles
    9.2 mph average.

My goal for tonight was to ride til failure. Just to see where I'm at. Right around 20 miles I started to cramp. Kind of surprised me with the miles. Now I need to work on my speed. Goal is to get up to around 10 mph average speed for training rides. For racing , most races will be 11 - 12 mph average. Still alittle ways to go, but I'm very happy with the gains I've made in just 3 rides.

I tightened up my back pretty good between deadlifting Friday and chain saw work all day Saturday at my friend's house that was hit in the tornado. Took it easy on Monday, hit a light legs workout yesterday.

Today was one of those magical days where, after 4-5 days of not losing any weight, I miraculously lost 2.4 pounds seemingly overnight. Went from 198 to 195.6 this morning. Getting there, one day at a time!

This morning I crushed 40 minutes on the stair bastard and got in 230 flights climbed. Then I did some weighted step-ups and other misc leg workouts. Nothing too crazy, just trying to keep the legs strong-ish. Tomorrow is kettlebell day again.

I have been encouraged to work out hard, difficult to do in the house. I row like a sob and do the kettle balls plank and do my rehab exercizes I love to show improvement from one week to the next. I used to struggle with lifting one foot folding at the knee and holding it for 5 seconds then extending back. I used to have to keep 1 finger on the counter to balance doing that one, I work on that every night. Best part of working out during therapy, I get treated 3 times a week it's like having a training staff.

3 days of HR training have me restless. Got up early today and ran hard for 10min to get the day started, and to deaden my legs so I don't start running sprints inside Cabelas warehouse.

Had not seen the boys in a while so I went over to play with them. The 3 year old has a trike thing in the house he goes thru the kitchen/dining room thru the living room and back thru the kitchen has a circle track. He was chasing me then I was chasing him we went around and around for a half hour, then we wrestled on the floor. Then we went outside and he drove the tractor and I followed to push him out when he got stuck, then the youngest one Mason came out. Mason is named properly he is like holding a bag of cement I carried him around and pulled them in the shed we had a ball playing in the puddles.

I got home and my daughter called and asked if I was sore, nope why? She was like dad you were running and playing hard she had not see me move like that, it was noticeable. It feels really good not to feel like a stiff old man with no ballance or dexterity. Can't wait for spring yard work, bring it.

Did all my rehab workout this morning every excersize and stretch they have had me do in therapy, drastic improvement in balance. The excersizes are kinda like yoga it is a workout that is relaxing and you get that workout buzz too.

Just ran 2.4 miles in 28 min after hiking 2.5miles this morning. Not great but my heart is much stronger than when I started running again 3.5 months ago.

Did firewood for 4hrs straight almost. Throw in the trailer, haul out, stack and repeat. We’re not talking little pieces either. Some close to 24” round. That’s a full body workout.

I have a couple big oak trunks I need to cut up and break down, I love hand splitting oak, but on big trunks I will cut them in half with the saw. I still have my 13 # head on a true 36" beyond the head shaft length splitting maul. Can't wait to get after it again.Best part is all the wood has to be moved uphill too steep for a machine, my summer fitness plan. Cut split carry uphill to the culdesac and stack, no machine in the gym offers that.

    Ride # 4 Mountain Bike

    18.2 miles
    9.7 mph average
    1 hour 52 minutes

Still got in a great ride with decent miles. The big thing was my speed. I pushed it up by .5 mpg average, which was my goal. May try and get in another ride this week either Thursday or Friday. Next goal is get a long ride around 2 hours long and keep it above 10 mph average.

    Ride #5 on Mountain bike

    16 miles
    1 hour 25 minutes
    11.2 mph average

There is a race next weekend. So I went to ride the course. I did 2 laps. Extremely fast race. I will probably be able to knock off a few minutes if I was racing. This was my fastest average this year. I will ride again next Tuesday, then decide if I do the race on Saturday.

Granted I am going to be 57 and I probably do not push like I used to but I am amazed that I can work out and not be in pain. It is that time of year when I used to take my pack test for fireline qualification the ice and the advil it took to do it my standards. I had an old friend text me his pack test time, 36 minutes he said he is getting old, I said no you don't have a huckel berry to push you, him and I always pushed each other and always tested together and had the fastest pack test times of the area.

I am excited though starting to see gains and feeling like I am 30 again. Have to set an alarm because I sleep now too.

Keep it up Sota! Man that is one thing I wish I could do, sleep thru the night. I don't set a alarm for the last couple years. Even if I got one night a month of unbroken 8 hours sleep, I would be in heaven.

That's great to hear. The stronger and more in shape you get, you'll find that everything seems to improve. I can honestly say that at age 68 I have more energy and stamina than when I was 48. And that ain't no exaggeration!

    Apigenin 50mg..2 hrs before bed

    Magnesium threonate 300-400mg And
Theanine 100-400 mg 1 hr before bed.

I'm not a good sleeper but I started taking those 3 several weeks ago and instead of waking up 8 times a night it has cut it in half and has also helped me fall asleep.
