Be careful brother with such low calorie intake. I did the same thing about 15yrs ago with 900 calories per day and working out 2hrs a day. I did that for about 10 months and felt great. Then I literally hit the wall. I mean I felt rough for almost a year afterward. I seriously thought I had a terminal disease or something. Needless to say I put all the weight back on and felt rotten for a long time.

Thanks for the heads up Jim. Do you have any idea what could have caused you to feel so bad for such a long period of time after the 10 months of calorie deficit (did you consult a doctor to see what was wrong)?

Those results are impressive to be sure. My concern would be that this is a recipe for disaster. 1200 calories a day is minimum to keep your body from consuming lean muscle. Especially when doing such an excessive amount of cardio. You are far better off to think of it as a marathon, not a sprint. Taking weight off slowly and adding muscle will result in long lasting success. I have yet to see a single individual do what you are doing and keep the weight off. Your system will not know what to do with a normal diet in the future and will pack on everything you consume. A couple days of resistance training and a couple days of core and/or cardio with a balanced diet each week will bring you excellent results and a lifelong, healthy change. Best of luck!

It was mainly blood sugar issues. I think the deficit along with the exercise was causing big swings with peaks and valleys. After that started, it would usually take me until noon or after to feel normal, which coincided with having two meals. Also, if I didn't eat as soon as I got up, I would be dizzy and weak for most of the day. It probably took me a good two years to start feeling normal all the time. I don't ever want to feel that way again.

100% agree with you. Thanks for the advice!

As a disclaimer - I am not planning on doing this kind of diet/routine long term. I'm talking maybe 2 months (5 more weeks) max before I begin to follow a normal routine like you outlined.

Good to hear. I just feel so sick for the people that starve themselves for months on end and then in a matter of weeks put all the weight back on. I know several that have done exactly that, and its a real downer to their mental state and will to ever try again. They feel like they failed. I'm convinced that some resistance training is key to losing weight and feeling good.

Congrats on the weight loss MnHunter. I'll echo whats been said already. I had a similar experience as Pastor Jim. I had lost 45 lbs and was exercising hard and eating next to nothing. I ended up getting pneumonia and when it was also said and done I missed almost a month of work.
starving yourself wreaks havoc on your body.
I encourage you to take your time and find a way to make sustainable changes.

    Stay after it!

Been it maintenance mode for the last week and will probably stay that way for the next month. I will keep zig zagging my calories between maintenance levels and 2100 depending on energy in the gym and the scale. Changed my program at the gym a little to get more sets on compound lifts while still varying my rep scheme. Doing low intensity cardio 3 times a week.

I hope everyone is still getting after it.

Well that running thing is out the window. I had some pre existing right knee injuries from racing motocross that I thought were behind me. I tweaked my ankle in spring of 2014 and then shattered it fall of 2014.

The other day, I got up to unlock the front door and my right knee gave out. Normally I catch it but not this time. My knee folded up and my foot folded up as well under my ass, the same on I shattered. The right leg is taking a beating lol

That sucks. The last time I did that it was a fade away jump shot...16 weeks later I was walking without those stylish boots the ortho sets you up with.

    RICE.

and when the swelling goes down and the tissue starts to heal up, flexing your ankle as if you are spelling each letter of the alphabet, slowly and increasing sets as you heal, will help with mobility.

My 43 year old, 238 lb butt finally did 2 miles in 16 minutes. I need to lose about 10 more lbs and drop that time down to about 15 minutes and I think that would have me in pretty good cardio shape.

Yeah 2 miles in 1 minute, you'd have to be in great shape :D

Keep at it! And some fartleks will help cut some off your time.

So I’m still down 25 lbs since mid may last year. Not where I want to be, I was close to 35 lbs down last September, but I’m happy to still be way down from where I was. Good news is I’ve been pretty steady at my current weight +\- 5lbs since mid Nov.

Ran a 5k today for work, first time I’ve ran in about a month. Despite the 95 degree temps I felt good and didnt have to walk at all. I’m pretty motivated right now to get back after it and start getting consistency with my eating. I eat clean for a week and then eat like an idiot for a week. Pretty sure I can stick with it for a while though now.

I’ve got a Spartan race in 46 days and I’m hoping to get in 70+ miles and down another 10-12lbs by then. Will update you guys on my progress.

Set up for a PT and polygraph test next week. PT test is more of a 4 to 5 minute workout full of sprint endurance type things. I like it better than the more outdated 1.5 mile run, push up, and sit up stuff. A lot of guys can pass that easily but struggle with getting their heart rate up high for 5 minutes.

Two weeks out from the pt test. It's a good department with lots to offer so I'm hoping to make a decent impression at 43 yrs old. I've lost 4 to 5 lbs of fat the last 5 weeks. Down to about 236 lbs. I'm at the end of a two week push and I'm exhausted. But I tried a max set of pushups and a one minute test in sit ups, plus a pull up test.

45 push ups in a row today. Hope to be at 55 by testing in 2 weeks.

45 sit ups in one minute. Like to be over 50 in two weeks.

10 pull ups in a row. Like to be at about 12 or more.

Still working on my mile and a half time. Started at about 15.5 minute milf and half 6 weeks ago. I'm in the low 13 minute range now. Started at 30 pushups in a row 6 weeks ago. And I could only do about 25 sit ups in a row without burning out 6 weeks ago.

Final week push then will slow down for 5 days before the pt test.

what's a milf and a half? Like a really really hot milf? Why would you want to do less time with a milf? I'm so confused.
