I'm trying to mix in cardio (once a week, shut up) and holy crap, I'm humbled every time by it and really, really don't like it. I mixed a cardio and leg day today. Probably not a good idea, but I'm not real bright. Wiped me out. Did I mention I really, really, effin REALLY don't like it.
Down 10 to 11 lbs of flab since Sept 1st. Hardly any beer and lowered my sugar intake. Those are big numbers for me as I'm a slow loser. Not starving or anything, just eating more protein.
Any of you guys/gals use an app for step count or whatever? Not sure how they work, gps, gyro or triangulation, but want to get one if they actually work somewhat accurately. My daily walking has increased 50 fold the past 3-4 weeks. Still maintaining the loss of weight while ignoring carbs over caloric intake, but still wamting to lose another 25 pounds or so, then maintain.
I'm not sure what method it uses but my phone is able to track my steps through Google health. I have checked what it records with known distances and it seems to be pretty accurate, although there are some days it will have a little hiccup. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
That was part of how I started and dropped from 240 and have stayed around 190...I think some use an accelerometer to sense the 'bounce' of steps and average stride lengths...some apps may refine stride metrics with GPS. I've used fitbits or the app on my phone, Apple health, suunto watch, they're all close enough. My first goal was x steps a day...after holding that goal my goal increased. As the weight started to drop, I changed focus to work on improving pace. I also used to use myfitnesspal to track caloric consumption/burn...it integrated with the fitbit app so my fitbit logged exercise would factor in to help me monitor calories and modify my diet.

Today's Workout: 8 rounds in 52 minutes 1 min Rowing @250 mpm pace 1 min Jump Rope 1 min Step-Ups 150 yard drag with 135lbs Rested between rounds only as long as it took for my heart rate to get below 100bpm then started the next round. In the beginning it was about a 1 minute rest. The last couple of rounds it was 2 min rest.
I set realistic goals. So it's been a 10#'s at a time. So I'm at 8.5 goals met with 2.5 to go. It's also been a sustainable goal, so two years in. It's a lifestyle. Though that said, only in diet because even at my heaviest I was doing all the exercise and more than I do now. I also eat much more, even with fasting than I ever did before. It took just 3 words from my Dr. FINALLY!!!. " Watch your carbs" Not a problem and obviously the key, I do not process carbs well. At 21 I was 110#'s when I got married...I'll never see that again. I would like to see my first pregnancy weight. You won't see many woman say that, but I was so ill that in my first 4 months I lost 30#'s ending up in the hospital a couple of times.
