Nothing beats my local Chinese buffet. I don't care whos hands have been in there (sorry to say). The preservatives and junk in the food we eat is worse than what the people are giving off.

On a separate note. What's the consensus on the treadmill or elliptical machines at the gym and the accuracy of the calories burned? I've heard that you should subtract 200 calories from what it shows you. I burned 1000 calories between the elliptical and treadmill this morning, so in reality it would be much lower. Thoughts?

And, you would be wrong. Wrong on all counts. Do a little research before trying to make someone else look silly. Because you just proved yourself to have no knowledge on the subject. I have been on cruises and at resorts where those outbreaks occurred. We didn't get it, because we didn't share germs at the buffet. We stuck to the restaurants. Look up some stats on virus outbreaks on cruise ships and see what the common denominator was. Look up what medical experts suggest about your delicious buffet. lol.

Novovirus anyone? Remember that the guy in front of you that just scratched his ***** used the same utensils as you to scoop up that steaming pile of mashed potatoes and virus gravy. Get there before 4 PM and its all you can eat for $8.99!!! Heck-Ya!

Buffets are disgusting. I wont even entertain the thought of one. Who the hell want some Walmartshans breathing heavy and drooling over the food they are going to eat.....

Personally I never pay any attention to how many calories I may have burned by doing an exercise. My personal feeling is it's one inaccurate and two encourages people to eat more because they think burned x amount of calories.

I 'm of the opposite mindset. Tracking your calories burned/calories taken in is essential to healthy weight loss. I'm eating the same thing every day as I meal prep so it's useful to gauge where I'm at.

This right here! While I do keep track of my exercise calories, it's so I can accurately do the math. While I was in the weight loss portion of my journey, I used it as an incentive. No way I wanted to go out and undo all the hard work I had done that morning by overeating. There are many who will use exercising to justify overeating afterwards. Weight loss is about 80-85% diet and only about 15-20% exercise. You can undo a whole bunch of sweat and hard work with an Oreo Mcflurry, my personal weakness.

I have an example of that from just this morning. I was using the example I just posted about... The machines told me I burned 1000 calories this morning. I get to work and there is an email in my inbox "donuts in the breakroom help yourselves." I go in there and look at them... The most beautiful donuts you have ever seen. Then I think to myself... I just got up at 4am and busted my ass at the gym for an hour, if I have one of these, or even half of one of these, all the work I did this morning goes down the drain (you can guess I didn't have any of those donuts). I guess the calories didn't matter so much, but the idea is there of wanting to know how much you burned in a workout session.

I agree 100% on the intake and counting calories. I guess after almost ten years I don’t worry about how many calories I’m burning doing a particular exercise anymore than I worry about weighing myself everyday. The subtle changes of my daily routine don’t matter to me because I hit my macros everyday and I’m either in a deficit or I’m not. The trend in my weight will tell me if I’m on target or not. I do follow my weights/reps and follow that as a measure of lean mass preservation during caloric deficits.
Whatever works for you is all that matters.

Soooo sore. Finally got my buttocks back in the gym and lifted some weights. I asked the guy there if he could look up the last time I was in. April 11, 2015. I tell you what though muscle memory is amazing. One week into it and I can already tell I’ll get it back quick. Now just to get past about a month of painful agony. I can hardly sit on the toilet after front squats lol

    Good job!

Hit the scale for the first time in 11 days. I was unsure where I would be since I had a couple meals out with my girl including a very large ice cream sunday and had cut back on my evening cardio. Thankful the deficit did the work and i was down 1.5 lbs. I will continue my current calories as I wouldn't mind dropping another couple pounds.

Good luck everyone! Stay after it!

If you don't mind my asking, what is your daily calorie count? I ask because when I was in the weight loss portion of my program I was doing 1500 calories a day. Once I reached my goal I uped it to 1800 but I continued to lose weight. Now I am between 2000 and 2100 each day and I seem to be maintaining.

I learned this morning that I shouldn't weigh myself on Mondays. All weight I lost the last 2 weeks is back after a weekend at the cabin drinking beer and eating like kings. Back on the grind today.

2400 is where I have been for most of this current deficit. I did drop down to 2200 for a week or two leading into a vacation. I have dropped down to 1800 in the past on occasion but it just isn't necessary for me to do so since I stay pretty lean year round.

Still grinding away. Dropping my calories down to 2200 for two weeks leading into a long weekend of food and fun. I hope everyone is staying after it.

Still after it. Just had my monthly assessment yesterday. I have lost two more pounds of fat and dropped another 1% of body fat. I'm now at 18 percent and feel really good. Starting to have more endurance in workouts and getting through them in about 30 minutes without gasping for air. lol. We got a bag and have added kick-boxing training for cardio. I never dreamed I would even consider that, but its pretty fun and definitely raises the old heart rate. I'm at 1620 calories a day and never hungry. Good luck to all and stay healthy!

Not counting calories. I’m intermittent fasting and Just trying to eat clean and good quality food. I’ve never fasted before and thought it would be tough. Surprisingly I’m doing great with it. I’m even more productive at work. I work a long day so I jumped right into the 4 hr window. I fast from 8pm until 4pm the following day. I consume around 22-25 hundred calories in those 4 hrs. Paired with fasted state weight training. I’m watching the weight melt off. I’ve lost 12lbs in 2 weeks and I’m down 20 since I started working out. I’m slacking on cardio right now but I’ll pick back up on that later

Thats great exercise. I always tweak my wrists so I have never stayed with it. I like the speed bag. Its hardly exercise but it make for a nice break when doing a circuit. Congrats for what you've accomplished so far.

Thats great. It was in the high 70's here. Finally!

Good Job! No doubt that has to feel good!

I've lost 11lbs since my last post. 1+ hour of cardio a day and a very strict diet Monday-Friday (still don't follow my diet on Saturday or Sunday).

I know it's "unhealthy" but it's working for me. I drink a gallon of water a day. No breakfast, lunch, or food in general until supper. Supper I will have a chicken breast, cottage cheese, and broccoli/cauliflower. If I'm craving a sweat snack after supper I will have a handful of honey roasted peanuts. I'm lucky if I hit 1000 calories in a day. I have had no negative feelings from consuming so few calories so I'm going to stick with it until I start hitting the weights.

My knee still bothers me some days after running for a while but it's not nearly as bad as before.
