Halloween has always been a day that was special to me for hunting. Schedule was tight this year so up at 3 am to be out the door and meet my brother at our cabin to hunt all day. Got to my favorite stand and settled in on a crisp perfect morning. A beautiful sunrise and a couple groups of does strolling by made for a fun morning but no bucks in sight. At 10:00 a doe with her little one in tow came perfectly in front of my stand and worked past and then behind me. Shortly after I heard a small grunt and could see a buck approaching but he was small. I grabbed the video camera and filmed him grunting and pursuing those does. Camera back in bag and about 2 minutes later I see another deer coming on the same line only this time it’s a shooter. His mouth hanging open with spit and snot flying........he was now close enough for me to see his breath steaming out as he followed the does footsteps right in front of my stand. The shot was pure and at the trails end was another amazing memory of a Halloween hunt I won’t soon forget.
