That sucks, least you'll have his rack. Good luck with the beavers.

Bummer, anyone ever see him last year or have a trail cam pic of him. He was a really cool looking big buck.

No trail cam pictures. I knew there were two good bucks in that area but only hunted it a couple times when the wind wasn't right for the other buck I was after. I never got an up close look at them. One was wide and one was narrow when we saw them in the summer while scouting. We were too far away to get a good look. When we scouted it later they were no shows. A couple other guys saw the wider buck and said it was a 6x6 mosnster but the one guy sees world record bucks every year so you take it for what it is worth.

The only decent cover to hunt in that area usually finds the deer not getting there until after dark. They bed out in small grass/cattail sloughs with hills surrounding them. You can't hunt the hills when we have pinto beans or wheat planted there. Just not enough cover and the wheat is off before bow season starts so you are talking a bare field. There is no way to get in there in the morning without running the deer out. I usually over look it just because it is a pain to hunt in that repsect.

If the wide one made it and returns this summer... I will have to figure something out.
