I like Mike and I agree, but it's my Job to put God in my childrens lives, I was the one at their Batism that promised I would do so. I don't understand why it's the nations job to put God in my kids life. Why do I want Goverment views on God in my kids lives?

I think you all missed the point, and one of your retorts was specifically addressed in the video. It's not that adding prayer sessions to a school keeps it safe. it's that we as a society fight tooth and nail to remove anything religious from ANY public site, then we mockingly say where was your god when something terrible happens.

As for where I feel safest with my imaginary kids? A private school that DOES allow religion, with restricted access points, and an armed guard. Security against the dangers the world presents while at the same time not force feeding anti religion down our kids throats.

I went to public school, we were absolutely NOT allowed to discuss a creation theory in class, but discussed at lengths the big bang theory and some of its derivatives. Reason being some kids mom didnt believe in God, and had a teacher fired because the teacher mentioned God in front of a class including her son. God forbid he actually make up his own mind on what he believes. We actually went over all of the worlds religions in class from muslims to buddhism...but we specifically left out any mention of christianity to save face with this particular mother.

I would never advocate forcing God into kids lives, I just am a strong advocate of not forcing him OUT of kids lives. If we are free to discuss how a fish turned into a man over the years, or how something the size of a grain of sand exploded for no reason whatsoever and expanded into the universe and its infinite contents....I think we should also be able to discuss such far fetched ideas of a greater being setting this world into motion (crazy I know).

I don't understand how teaching Christianity in school will help. At all.

That's not what Mike is saying, he saying as a society we have push god out, and then when things go bad we ask "Hey where were you God, why did you let this happen"

My point is faith has to come from Home, it's not the Schools, Goverments or anyones else job but mine to teach my kids about God.

Guys, my point is that all of us here in this forum have the common sense and know how about firearms. Its probably also reasonable to say we've all been brought up around guns and were taught right from wrong at a very early age.

My statement about being checked in on to ensure proper gun storage, etc., is obviously an extreme case. I don't want that anymore than you. I also do not want to be forced into a situation where I have to carry a gun everywhere I go because of the safety concern for myself and family.

My parents put a healthy fear and respect into me at a very early age concerning guns. I knew immediately the seriousness of mishandling them and will impart that same fear and respect into my kids.

The trouble is, others do not have a clue and should not own a gun in the first place. I guess the thing that baffles me is that here in PA, for example, I am only allowed to have a maximum of 4 shells in gun while hunting. For me that's more than enough to hunt with, but there are high capacity clips available for a lot of guns. What do you need high capacity clips for?

    ########################################################
I want to also say this.....

If anyone here disagrees with my take on gun laws, that is fine. I do not hold any animosity toward anyone for disagreeing and am not asking anyone to agree with me. Preacher Tony... I especially mean you here buddy. I get a lot of resentment from you and I hope you do not feel that way from me. I have much respect for you and others on this site and definitely understand the viewpoints of others as I share the same concerns, either for or against certain things.

I own plenty of guns. I want to continue to own them and fight that cause. I also think that there has to be some sort of give and take from both sides of the gun control argument. What that is, I have no idea.

Again, I've been very moved by this tragedy as I am now a father and its affected me quite differently now. Its unreasonable, from a logistics standpoint to have armed guards in every school, daycare, etc. I know I've said things that drive the pro-gun crowd nuts and you probably look at me a lot differently now.

Twenty-two children were hurt by a knife-wielding man at a primary school in central China.
Min Yingjun, 36, stabbed an elderly woman before bursting into Chenpeng Village Primary School in the Henan province yesterday.
Seven of the students, aged between six and 12 years old, were taken to hospital, some with severed fingers and ears.

Lets not use the China example, they all lived

It will take the negative stigmatism away from it. My age group and younger honestly looks down on those who are Christians as stupid or hypocritical without even learning what the message is truly about. I don't know where the happy medium between forcing religion onto kids and forcing kids away from religion lies...I just know currently we are to the extreme on the side of religion is taboo to practice or even mention anywhere besides your family room or in church...It shouldn't be that way.

Y shouldn't it be? Works well in my eyes. I hate most religious talk and glad most people these days keep it to their self.

I agree (whoa) with you Trevor. Its "hip" to dissect organized religion these days. Most our age view the church as an old-person-inhabited money-hungry-no-fun club.

As I read thru this thread, I find it so ironic that some on here and actually posting in this thread, a few months back hated Union teachers for trying to make a decent living, wanted them to take a pay cut and voted to take away rights saying they didn't deserve to make that much money for only working a part of the year. NOW, these same people on here are wanting to arm teachers, want these same teachers to protect their children all all costs, which some did just pay the ultimate price as we all know while protecting Americas children. Sickening, Where are the haters now, they sure are quiet....?....God Bless Americas Educators!

Teacher love is trending, your the devil if your not on the wagon.

IMO, teachers have no business with firearms.

Trained LEO's. A division of EVERY local police branch should be required in every school.

Please don't forget the first people through the door that rush in are also over paid union workers in most cases.

I hear that, I've always been on the wagon for teachers, they deserves more, some guys on here change their minds so much I'm starting to think they are related to Romney! LOL!

I hunt with a teacher thats a pretty good shot. ;) ....but I agree, a trained LEO or the like should be at every school, think of how many jobs that would create!

This is what makes most of what you post irrelevant, Being part of a union does not elevate you in anyones eyes but your own.
We are all individuals, we all have choices to make in life. If the presents of a card in ones pocket is how you judge people I hope to God you never sit in a position of power.
