I can skin a deer in the time it would take me to call 911 and some one would show up. I guess some of us were raised to take care of problems as they arise. We have guns in our trucks, guns in the barn and plenty through out the house, you can fear them or use them its your choice

Hiding from the boogie man will not make him go away.

That would excite him to much.

Right now it's just talk, that's all it is.

    How's that old saying go?

Something like: The police will definitely be there in time to outline the body in chalk, it's up to you to make sure it's not your body.

Isn't it the responsibility of you as a gun owner to make sure your guns are locked away and if you have kids to educate them on the dangers. To let somebody come in and randomly check on you is a over exaggerated solution. Should they also start coming in and making sure you don't have drugs or doin anything else illegal. If you need to be checked up on and have reassurance your doin the right things maybe you shouldn't be a firearms owner.

    Or a parent...

How about if they come by to make sure parents are home and that they are raising their children correctly. Let's see... who would decide what would be correct... I know... some government appointed psychologist... perfect. No; there's a problem... who would be watching their kids while they are watching yours? Rats... thought I had it figured out.

I was gonna say that as well but me not being a parent I don't want to criticise somebody else's parenting. But yes your absolutely right they shouldn't be parents if they can't make their home "kid safe" without being checked on.

Number one we have a young man with a life time history of mental illness, a father who chose to buy his way out of a very bad situation and a mother who believed if you ignore a problem long enough it will go away.

None of the three under lying issues were dealt with, and then compound that with readily available fire arms and you have a recipe for a disaster, which is exactly what happened.

Could it have been prevented? Maybe, but I'm gonna say it was just a matter of time before this guy blows a top. And he won't be the last. Is more government the answer? It never has been in the past, but once again it will be shown that we are a slow learning breed, the solution to this and most other problems facing us will be found looking back at you from the mirror each and every morning.

    Let get to reality here
This morning I took my 5 year old daughter to her kindergarten class.
All of the kids were outside playing and just being kids.
There are normally 3 teachers aids outside watching them and walking the kids in when the bell rings. For the first time since she started school I saw every classes teacher outside infront of the line walking the kids in. Several of them thanked me for being there everyday and waitng until every kid has walked in to the school. I also talked to the principle about making sure that doors are locked and not excessable to be opened from the outside.
So while waiting I had a conversation with a couple of the teachers who all expressed that they would feel uncomfortable having to be responsible for a gun in the school. BUT would feel better and safer if there was an armed guard at the school making sure that something likewhat happened at sandy hook wont happen again anywhere.
I am currently trying to schedule a meeting with the school to offer myself FOR FREE to do this job.

I have figured the best way to solve this. It's not gun control, not a safe for your guns, not better parenting, and def not bring god back to a place he doesn't belong. It's so much more simple. DON'T HAVE KIDS!!!!!!!! No kids, no schools to shoot up. No kids, no worries about kids. No kids, no annoying crying in stores and restaurants. No kids=happy times! Plus we would all have more money to spend on bowhunting! I don't see a down side to this plan.

The end of the American dream and the human race come to mind.

Plus most males enjoy sex with a woman, which has obvious risks.

But i know your just kidding.

    I hope.

Well be gone so if it ends it ends. And there's plenty of ways to enjoy the beautiful women we have without making a crying popping money pit.

Of course I'm joking...for the most part. It's just a dream that will never come true. It is my plan of course, and i follow it 100% no kids for me!

Yeah I'm not a fan. Yes, i believe we have become way to up tight on the whole politically correct thing. But, religion should be kept out of places like school and law. Religion should be a choice, not forced on people. I don't believe in god. Hope I'm wrong, but doubt it. Teach kids the background of all religions, and let them decide what is best for them. And it always bothers me that when something like this happens theres so many people quick to jump on the "bring god back into schools" thing...just like it drives me nuts that so many are quick to blame guns. There's messed up people in this world, god or no god, guns or no guns, this stuff will happen.

that all sounds just dandy except for the fact that people have been killing each other forever

in fact, moreso back in the good ol' days when "god" was allowed everywhere

Ah yes...bring God back into the schools. Because that would have saved all those kids & teachers.
School A prays every morning that no nut job comes in & kills everyone.
School B gets and armed guard & extremely limited access points.

Which school would you feel better sending your child to?

My simple answer to that John is they can refer to my backround.
Taking a life is not an easy task by any means what so ever and is an enormous burden to carry with you everyday.
It doesn't matter if the person was my enemy in war or if it was someone that was trying to harm people that I vowed to protect.
And I would gladly discuss those issues with and reasonable adult that had a those conserns.
People are screaming about gun control but yet we had kids guns and send them off to war and tell them that its ok to shoot those people that we deem our enemy.
I was there I went through it. It took me many years to learn to accept it and deal with it. But it will never go away for me.
But sadly today young people today are so desensatized to death its self that that dont really understand the feelings that come with it.
