That's just the thing. If fully automatic rifles weren't used then turn to high capacity magazines. The fact of the matter is, where there's a will there's a way. Sounds familiar, I'm sure most people heard it a lot while growing up. It does not discern between "ill will" or "good will", just if it is there you will find a way. Ban guns, they'll go to simpler means of more brutality with knives and swords. Deaths will be fewer but still occur. More deaths needed? Steal a car and drive through big crowds.

Malicious intent will always be there within the ranks of society regardless of the nation or beliefs they live within. I think this image off Facebook says it best

Guy killed 22 kids in China the same day with a knife:(

Not sure what the answer is but take care of your own and the ones around you as best you can.
Lots of wonderful things happening in this age we live in for kids to take others lives and their own.

Really feel for this community that will have to move on and maybe go back to that school:(

They just said the. 223 was the weapon used to kill everyone but himself...

Again, ...not that it matters .... he also shot his mother in the face as she slept and his mom did NOT teach at the school...

All those kids killed were 6 or 7 years old....

I'm completely horrified by this and its affected me in ways I didn't expect.

I don't like the idea of making teachers carry while in a classroom. It may be too much to expect out of a teacher. However, armed, discreet guards in the school isn't a bad idea.

Its just such a sobering reminder that "they" walk among us every day. Right now, there are multiple ticking time bombs walking among us and sooner or later, they'll snap.

I agree, i don't like the "IDEA" either. I would also not want any teacher that isn't comfortable with it to do it. BUT, if they are trained and comfortable as well as confident, I would have no issue with it , as long as they are concealed.

I would prefer armed guards but I can see that as an issue financially.

Let me ask this of everyone.
I just had to explain all of this to my 5 year old daughter who is in Kg.
She asked me if that bad man is going to come to her to.
I told her no. Then she asked me if a bad man came there would i come and shot him to save everyone. I didn't know how to answer her. But i did my best.
That being said how many of you would actually be willing to be an armed guard at any school for free?
Out be willing to give up more of your hard earned money to enable the schools to pay one.
I for one would sit in that school all day every day for free to make sure all of these kids are safer.
If that meant working nights somewhere else just to be able to pay my bills i wouldn't care.

It's not happening here with a knife, so I don't care about china.

It's not happening poison, it's not happening with explosives.

It's happening with young mentally ill men with guns. Instead of looking what china, look at what an insurance will NOT cover for a mentally health reasons.
Look at why insurance companies will not pay psychiatrist when they are needed.
Look at how we give kid a pill, instead of our time. Our mental health system is a joke, and we are all paying for our inability to fix it, and help our kids.

So I don't care about china, I care about us, and we have a lot of pain.

Germ you need to care about China and all of the other countries that are having the same things happening.
You don't care now but what about when the family of a kid from there moves here and he commits an act like that here.
This kids was in the "tech club" at school. Pretty reasonable guess he played these damn games that glorify shooting people.
These games desensitize kids to reality today. Then you add in social media bullying and a mental disorder and boom.
At the end of the day as parents we are responsible for teaching our kids right from wrong. How to treat others, how to except people who are different and how to deal with emotions they have.
If my kid was that mentally unstable i would make sure that i got them the help they needed no mater what i had to give up to afford it

Let me be clear I don t give a rats *** about china.

Right now today, it's kids here that are the issue. Lets address our kids.

Stating it happens everywhere is a cop out.

    Parents responsibility absolutely.

Spoke with my dad today who is a former career Marine and strong supporter of our 2nd amendment rights to carry arms. My father was at his wits end over the shooting in Connecticut and other shootings. He made reference to limiting sales of assault weapons. I had never heard him say anything even remotely close to that in his life. I had also never heard him sound so distraught over something like that before in all my life. He was seriously affected by the school shooting and just kept talking about those innocent children.

I myself kept looking at the pictures of those dead children and I am angry. I imagined those were my children and the pain their parents are feeling. It is deep and it hurts.

I wish I could put it into words.... I don't have kids.. and I can't imagine what they those parents/family and other children who witnessed what happened are going through. It gives me a heavy heart every time I think about it. But we have to realize this is the evil world we live in.

The gun talk just pisses me off... there's no law that's going to change this world.

The further this world get's away from God, the worse things will get... It's been that way since the beginning of time.

Maybe we need to rethink taking God out our public school systems and sporting events after this month.

I have no idea what the solution might be if there even is one?

But it could be argued that religion may be the cause of more war, more violence, and more death in this world than any other factor.
