Was pretty slow at work today so decided to get out in the woods for a much needed get-away from life. I've had a hole pile of junk build up in the last week with my life both personal and business wise so i needed to get away before i suffocated. :computer: But enough whining here ya go --- This is where i go when i need to go into deep thought I'm not worth a damn shed huntin when im wondering around amelessly in a trans , but it does wonders for the soul. This little guy entertained me for the longest time staying 20-30 yards ahead of me I tell ya first nice spring day out in the woods of the year ,not much compares "as least in my simple mind". Its like a big deep breath of life. Came across this when i popped out of the woods on the south side. Notice all the hair to the left of the body. He was a pretty large body deer once upon a time , the pictures do no justice You can tell here he lost his horns naturally , not sure how long he was dead but there was blood runnin out of the side that was towards the ground ? There was a ton of hair all over the sorrounding area , im thinkin the yotes have had there way with him a couple times atleast. Coincidentally there was a weird unexplainable hole in his jaw and lone-behold this was 30 yards from him? not sure what to make of it ? This area used to be extremely thick like the area to the left and with no bedding in it we decided to clear it and turn it into this - its about 3/4 acre it'll be full of some kind of food plot as soon as the farmer starts workin fields and can get er disced for us and ready to plant All in all i had somewhere around 5 to 7 hours out there today, im not even sure. I found no bone which was just fine with me. Today was one of those days that is much needed for guys like us " i assume you fellas too". Sometimes between the 3 kids ,the wife ,the business ,and the bills i dont know what id do without some good ole mud on the boots. I wonder how many guys over the years, couldve used a day like this before they where so overwhelmed they resorted to something tragic. I'm sure as hell not there in life by any means but i just wonder ?
Beautiful property. That looks like a perfect spot for a plot, tucked back in the corner with good escape/transition cover. Nice pictures, looks like a good day. I def. understand how precious time in the woods can be. As far as the shed buck with a hole in its jaw.. That sucks. He probably starved to death if he actually was shot and not recovered. I hate seeing that.
man that is nice to get out, and contemplate what to do for the fall set up. looks like a nice day to boot!
Love the photos, those fields are looking pretty green, that is awsome. We should really start greening up next week with the warm temps and sunny days. I am getting more and more excited for turkey season and trout fishing with each day. I did hit up my woods today, checked out my stand where I shot my buck this season and I climbed up and sat there a good 45 minutes just soaking it in anticipating the upcoming fall.
I'm glad you were able to get out and soak up some outdoors. Great looking photos. Hopefully that trip will be the first of many to help ease the stresses of life. I know I enjoy shed hunting and leaving the headaches of life far, far behind me.
