after my first mess up at the bull i go back into the same area i go off to the right of the skid road and into the woods i cow call nothing answers im making my way in there and then across a deep galie, and about 100 yards away well i see them and then the cow looks up right at me at least i thought then her head goes away from me and she doesnt look at me so i pull back my bow and shoot brod side and miss, they stand still wondering wtf just happend, so i pull back again and shoot thwack right into a tree 20 yards from me, pull back again and shoot brod side shot just a little high, then i pull back again there making there way up a hill so i go for the neck and a little high on that one to, to bad i didnt have a pin for that distance i would of had them that was my second time ever shooting at a elk and i was steady as a rock and i took my time best shot ive ever made. i found all 4 of my arrows they had dirt and sap on them lol, i lost 2 brodheads because they came out in a tree and 1 insert, well maybe if i could get a close shot i could get an anmial all of my shots have been above 60 yards, maybe this weekend i can get a close shot :)

No offense Jake, but it seems to me that you have no business pulling that bow back on any animal, until you spend some more time at the range....

Yea man, it is cool you are getting excited about hunting, but ya gotta realize you can't just start flinging arrows at ranges like that and expect to kill an animal in an ethical way. I will not shoot a broadhead at any live animal if I am not confident in the shot and comfortable with the yardage. It isn't fair to you or the animal, especially.

Keep on practicing, but I think you may want to pick a maximum range to shoot at an animal this year. Whatever you feel confident with. If you don't feel confident in a shot, do not shoot. Have fun, be safe

I'd say its time to start drinkin while you hunt... maybe some whiskey or bourbon... helps settle the nerves. I would also put 3 arrows on your string at once... gives you a better chance of gettin one of them bloody.... and lastly... if that doesn't work, I would sit in the bed of a pickup truck and have somebody drive me around while I fling arrows at everything that moves... but hey... thats just me.... I'm not the "holier than thou" type:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::confused:

I really do hope it is someone trying to ruffle some feathers, and this all didn't really happen. If this guy is for real about these stories, I can not believe the dad would just send his son into the woods with no preperation or knowledge about what to do. No place being in the woods with a deadly weapon imo. craziness... But like I said, I really do hope it is someone just messing around.

Wtf is wrong with you guys first off my quiver only holds 5 arrows and second it was my second time ever shooting at an elk thirdly i felt i could make the shot i would never try to wound an animal, fourtly ive been shooting spot on, so stfu everyone who felt it was a stupid shot to take because i had clear shots at them

    LOL...Caleb. Classic, I've missed those.

Hunterjake-- ONLY 5 arrows?? Most people kill animals with 1 arrow, on the first shot. Not always, but most of the time. I understand you are getting defensive, but you really don't understand that a thread title of "4 more shots on a ____" is not very common. If you had wide open, clear shots, then obviously you are not effective with that set up at those ranges.
