Throughout your Hunting season...what are your favorite annual rituals? 3 come to mind to me: -Opening Weekend Bow Season campout with close friends. This will be our 17th annual - it started with campers and tents at the local state park...but 10 years ago my Dad built a cabin bordering the state park and now takes place there. Usually around 10 hunters - we all hunt the 4400 acres of public ground just down the road - deer always fall...along with some of the best grilled meats, fried goodies, and keg beer. This group anticipates that weekend all year long. -The Friday one week before our Shotgun season I pull an all day sit in my favorite stand. Go in at dark - come out at dark...have had some awesome hunts - yet to tag a deer on this day and nearly struck by lightning a few years back...not sure why I look forward to this so much -Opening day shotgun season. Not much hunting for me as this is mostly a family/friend tradition - sometimes it seems like a race to see who can get back to the cabin earliest to get the chili on and cards dealt Gun season is just another chance to get in the woods and enjoy it with family...would rather bag the deer with my bow... ...anxious for my kids to join me on these in a few years... What do you look forward to each year most?
-All 5 Fitz boys together for the 9 day WI rifle season -each morning of said season, its a waiting game to see who has to "warn up" the outhouse seat first. -Growing a buck beard (or trying in my case)
