That would be the way to go if one felt it was a must to stop bolt heads from rusting but a bit expensive. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I'm sure you could convince your local pro shop to do it for a set fee? Something I would be interested in doing!
$100 for bolts seems a bit excessive to me to stop a little surface rust but it would work. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I got the set because I wanted the lighter weight of titanium. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
Am I the only one that has just painted all their bolts? Mine all got a matte grey spray after the first season. Especially the bolts on my HHA. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I was wondering why that wasn't an option for those that had issue with the rust myself. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
It's not the bolt heads rusting... It's the threads themselves... My sights were essentially seized up when I returned... I had to convert it from 5 pins to 3 because of it stripping two of the rings out trying to disassemble it. The titanium definitely seems the way to go but like tfox said I can't bring myself to drop $100 on them after the fact with my bow setup perfectly... If accessory companies offered this as a factory upgrade for $20 and bow companies for $50 I'd have paid it from the get go though....
You can probably get the bolts individually through soneone like EBN or mcmaster carr much cheaper but not sure on that. SS on the sight shouldn't be an issue. I would be concerned about limb bolts being stainless and the rest bolt like I stated earlier. Especially on higher poundage bows. Might be able to go titanium there and SS everywhere else. I probably wouldn't use ss on module screws either as they tend to get stripped out enough as it is. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I will add that aluminum can oxidize in the holes as well adding to the problem. If having issues in harsh environments like trevor, a shot of oil or grease will eliminate the problem. I would do it even if replacing the bolts under those circumstances. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
That should work well and might be a better option than petroleum based oil. Scent should be better as well. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
That was the main thought behind it. I cannot recall the name right now but we used to carry a scent free gun oil that would have been great.
I've always just used a little Hopes Gun oil (scentless) on my screws and never had an issue. However, i've never put them on the threads themselves. I want that stuff to be tight and stay tight. They do seize a little, but as tfox mentioned, its not rust, is oxidation from the aluminum.
