How are you enjoying your new addition to the team? Albert Pujlos is batting a cool .208 with a monster slugging percentage of .292! 96 at bats this season and ZERO homeruns and 5 RBI's. How that $240 million working for ya? Playing like he's already at the tail end of his 10 year contract. I thought they'd get at least 3 years out of him before he started coasting.

According to Albert, God told him to take the Angels offer. Perhaps it was to teach him about humility.

I seriously doubt Pujols is "coasting" . He is also a very humble person by all accounts I have seen.

He struggled all last season and I would assume the pressure is getting to him. I doubt he will ever have the great numbers he used to but he will get back to being a great player once he is able to relax and play ball.

He wanted to stay but St Louis didn't offer him anything close to what the Angels did.

He's in a slump...foolish to write him off as done after the past several dominant seasons he has had.

ALSO foolish to EVER sign big name long term contracts like that to finish a guys career out. Not worth the money when you look at the multitude of players that can be bought for 250 million

I agree about the contract. I don't blame St Louis for not signing him and I don't fault him for taking the money considering the amount.

I bet he wishes he had stayed. He was happy and you don't screw with happy.

I wish he would have stayed w. the Cardinals. I'm a Royals follower(not sure if you can be a fan of them), but I don't hate the Cards like most Royals fans. I appreciate them for being a professional baseball organization, unlike the Royals.

    He'll probably come around though.

I smile ear to ear every time I see his stats scroll across the bottom of sports center. Thank the good Lord we didn't spend that money on him to stay.

I agree. That contract may as well said 4 or 5 years, because that's what they are banking him producing during. The back end of the contract is meaningless. At that point they will be pissing away 20mil a year that could've been spent elsewhere.

For what it's worth....Carlos Beltran has 2 more homers and 2 more RBI's TONIGHT, than Pujols does all YEAR. With that being said, Pujols will end up with good numbers. Mo' and the Cards are looking smart so far though.

After Pujols signed and after some of the jabs were exchanged in the aftermath, I said that 10 years from now Albert would miss STL more than we missed him.

The real story here is Freese showing that the playoffs weren't a fluke, and Lance Lynn being freaking ridiculous on the hill.

Freese has been a beast from day one,he has just had injuries that have prevented him from staying on the field.

    http://espn.go.com/mlb/preview12/st...angels-texas-rangers-now-baseball-superpowers

"The on-field stakes are high, but the real foundation of the power shift is the enormous television deals that are essentially underwriting the emergence of these two powerhouse franchises and can keep both at a high financial level for years to come. The Rangers signed a 20-year contract with Fox worth roughly $3 billion that begins in 2015, while the Angels opted out of a 10-year, $500 million deal for one worth an estimated $3 billion that expires in 2030."

Don't worry about the Angels, the money meant nothing to them...I'm sure they could pay 3 or 4 more Pujols' with TV money.

That said boy I bet cardinals front office guys sleep well every night!

I'll set aside the fact that I totally disagree with that statement. Go ahead and buy another 3 or 4 pujols' Anaheim! Not going to win you a championship.

How about Pujols now. .289 average with 23 homeruns and 74 rbi. Not bad considering his very rough start. Still plenty of games in the season. Might reach 30 home runs and .300(but I doubt that)
I don't see any coasting

I've heard people tell me he's kind of a d*ck and wouldn't sign an autograph for a little kid at a best buy. I am by no means an Angels fan, bit would rather see them do well instead of the Yankee$$$$ or the Bo$ox. But then again the AL isn't real baseball ;)
