Other. It had a check mark for "other" so I checked the box. It then said, if you checked "other" then print out what race. I then printed out, "other". Hahaha! I am also listed as "other" on my marriage license and on all job forms and applications over the past 11-12 years. :)

    Haha!

I hate the freakin' race question. K filled out the census form and he put me down as Native American and Japanese. He didn't write anything down for 'principal tribe'... so I wonder if they will have a fit over that.

I really don't see why they need to know anybody's race anyhow.

Amen to that Christine. I am by all appearances a "white boy" but I don't even have a darn clue as to why in 2010 we are wasting our friggin time worrying about racial statistics. My wife about slapped me when we got our marriage license. The lady asked my race and I immediately said "other". She did a double take and asked again. I said, "African". She then put down "other". My wife is miss goody two-shoes, not wanting to rock the boat. I told her that I am somewhere between 5.12323234141124%-8.560234509234509235324059% Native American so I should really be considered "other". :)

How is the information that I provided false? What if I do not consider myself part of the white race? What if I do not consider myself part of the hispanic race? What if I do not consider myself part of the african race? Then am I truly not "other"? I am not sure what I should have put in the blocks after I checked other. Maybe I should have put... french/german/comanche/dutch/cherokee/belgian/english/whoever my greatgreatgrandparents slept with/hopefully black/maybe chinese/possibly russian...

If I have not had a DNA test, then who could possibly tell me what "race" I should associate myself under?

Here is my response to the census. I'll tell them how many. Thats all

    To Whom It May Concern,

Pursuant to Article I, Section 2, Clause 3 of the Constitution, the only information you are empowered to request is the total number of occupants at this address. My "name, sex, age, date of birth, race, ethnicity, telephone number, relationship and housing tenure" have absolutely nothing to do with apportioning direct taxes or determining the number of representatives in the House of Representatives.

Therefore, neither Congress nor the Census Bureau have the constitutional authority to make that information request a component of the enumeration outlined in Article I, Section 2, Clause 3. In addition, I cannot be subject to a fine for basing my conduct on the Constitution because that document trumps laws passed by Congress Interstate Commerce Commission v. Brimson, 154 U.S. 447, 479 (May 26, 1894) "Neither branch of the legislative department [House of Representatives or Senate], still less any merely administrative body [such as the Census Bureau], established by congress, possesses, or can be invested with, a general power of making inquiry into the private affairs of the citizen. Kilbourn v. Thompson, 103 U.S. 168, 190. We said in Boyd v. U.S., 116 U. S. 616, 630, 6 Sup. Ct. 524,―and it cannot be too often repeated,―that the principles that embody the essence of constitutional liberty and security forbid all invasions on the part of government and it's employees of the sanctity of a man's home and the privacies of his life. As said by Mr. Justice Field in Re Pacific Ry. Commission, 32 Fed. 241, 250, 'of all the rights of the citizen, few are of greater importance or more essential to his peace and happiness than the right of personal security, and that involves, not merely protection of his person from assault, but exemption of his private affairs, books, and papers from inspection and scrutiny of others. Without the enjoyment of this right, all others would lose half their value.'"... Note: This United States Supreme Court case has never been overturned.

    Respectful I Remain,

    United States Citizen

I filled mine out the other day. I had no problem with marking what race I was. Why Is that such an Issue?

If we are ever going to have equality, race needs to be left out of all government decision making. I don't believe that will ever happen. Special interest groups want it both ways.

Clap clap clap. I love it.

Schultzy, it is an issue to me. I don't agree with racial statistics. Like for example yesterday when they passed the health care bill...the cited such and such representative and called him the ranking black democrat in the house of reps....huh? Black Democrats? White Repulicans? White/black republicans? Heck, we have a kid where I work right now that looks half black/half white. He does not know who his parents are...he could be all black, all white, half black/half white, non on the above, part hispanic, puerto rican...where does this bs madness end. I have not supported race based statistics since I left college via all applications, and I will not start now because some bureaucrat wants to crunch numbers.

My area is a mecca for illegal immigrants. Many many of them are hardworking, god fearing, wonderful people. I have a ton of respect for people who risk everything to come to america to better their families. However, the game needs to be played correctly. They must immigrate legally, unless they can show just cause for seeking asylum:

The Refugee Act of 1980 conforms U.S. immigration laws with various UN conventions and protocols. A person within the United States may be granted asylum if he or she can demonstrate a "well-founded fear of persecution" based on (1) political opinion, (2) religion, (3) race, (4) nationality, or (5) membership in a particular social group. A person who is outside the U.S. may apply for refugee status based on this same criteria

What is funny is that I was presented with a potential fine from Finch for a thousand dollars because I wrote "other", yet illegal immigrants can walk right into our local hospital and cause us to pay their thousand dollar ER bill, yet they have not paid into our tax base. And everyone is just fine with that prospect.
