I kinda figured they ran a zillion dudes through there. They all do. I'm sure there numbers are a 'bit' off too. Just a tad.. especially on the success portions. 14 wounded... who are they kidding? I think they forgot a zero at the end.
It's much higher on that side. In Illinois.. you pay to play. Outfitters have made it so. Much like our politics. You're coming to Illinois this fall are you not. You'll pay a small portion of that price.
Would love to read some of that history. Everytime I see how quickly it can become a raging river, I think back and wonder if anyone has ever lost their lives.
Wow some great looking deer. in 2005 i was in a lease in ILL but the guy said an outfitter was offereing $35,000 and we paid $21,000. We didnt want to pay that much. We paid $1500 for each guy. I think it was around 900 Acres. Pike Co near a dynimate plant. I think Eagle lake Outfitters has it now. Hadley Creek is next door!!!!!!!! one of the guys shot a 224 inch buck in shotgun season in 2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ugh, the rain! Deb and I were supposed to hunt 3 days in Oct. but that darn rain kept us in for half a day. We couldn't get to a lot of the spots we wanted to hunt. Whole fields were underwater. I had to drive my truck through a long stretch of that water and now the truck has a weird wheeze like an old guy with emphysema. We did go back in late December for a doe hunt. (Deb and Louie, K and I.) The owner only charged us for lodging which was cheap. (and he fed us) Doug (I.C. owner) even said he had spots he'd let us hunt for does. (He's a nice guy.) By late Dec. the does are no push-overs tho'. Still, that was one of the best hunting trips I've been on.
Dan.. ALOT have lost their lives to that thing. I keep finding more and more info all the time. In fact.. a dude we met out there.. who is buds with racewayking.. they lost a buddy in that creek a long time ago and knew of at least one other over the past few years alone. I'll look up some info later for you Dan... but the shallow area we cross is known as "Wilsons Ford".. named after the first settlers (their family name is Wilson). Also the people who are buried on our lease in the cemetary there.. which is little more than like 3 old grave-stones. But JZ and I found it.. I got pictures of it somewhere. They lost a 4 yr old son or daughter (forget which one) to our creek... in like the 1870's-ish.. if I remember corretly. I used to have a link to the info. Boy.. this is the oddest conversation ever.. isn't it?
MUD, Looks like you changed your post before I could quote it. The answer is, no....Mr. Brasky lives about 2 hours north of there.
Dan you guys by chance gonna look for Mr. Braskys sheds? Or is that too far away for shedding with the new addition to Family and all?
I realized that it was the wrong area so i deleted it and posted something else!!!!! Sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We were down there a couple weeks ago, but they had a big snow storm a few days earlier. It apparears that very few deer actually winter on the property, as the 12 acre patch of tall CRP gets matted down with the snow. I have to go down in the next couple weeks and get the 5th wheel, so I'll check the one bean field that they had been digging in a bit. Doubt I'll find much though.
Those are the kind of deer I saw while in Iowa, there is no doubt there are some amazing whitetail producing areas in the mid west, you guys are right in there on that lease, I am sure its just a matter of time for ya all, before some real hawgs get their lungs knocked loose.
I hunted in Schuyler county last year and it took me 2 hunts to be at full draw on a buck that would have fit in nicely with all those pictures........saw him 2 more times over 5 days and passed up multiple shot opportunities at deer not much smaller. This was on 200 acres of private farm land I had never seen before and nothing but a Summit on my back and a bow in my hand. No aerials, no topos, no pre hung stands, no food plots, no year round scouting. 15,000 acres of heavily managed land in the same area with relatively low pressure???.............unlimited potential. That lodge is beautiful. What is so unreal about the place is how they manage to not only have such a great product to offer..........but also attract some of the greatest hunters in the country as well. Impressive.
80 acres for $4,000? Oh..........my..........God!!! Thats $50 per acre to hunt a deer. Thats out of my range by far. To be totally honest if I was a millionaire I wouldn't pay it, but thats just me.
