He's an old man that is going to get sent to prison soon. He'll need to become a monster or he's going have a rough stetch of golden years in the pen.

I could take care of it for him. Call me. How in the hell do they come up with 2nd degree murder for that. They say it was to protect the family from hearing the details. Screw that, tell the details and let the jury put his as away forever or in a chair with a lot of amps running through it.

This is where I'm at with this. I won't comment on what I would do in this situation, because I'm really torn.

What I will say is, how in the hell is this guy getting out of prison? How could someone who kills a 5 year old boy, eats him and then keeps his skull and bones on his dresser 7 years after the fact not wind up in jail for life.....or better yet, had a bullet put in his head immediately following the guilty verdict.

It sickens and disturbs me that this apathetic society that we are living in isn't harder on child molesters and seriously disturbed individuals like this.

Maybe we need to revisit the death penalty thread again.

Its not only stuff like this that makes me mad its also the fact that here in the US we let sick people like this back into our system so they can do it again, Its pretty sad that in the US you can kill someone and plead guilty to it and you can gurantee yourself you wont spend the rest of your life behind bars. The way i look at it is im sick of paying taxes on people who are in prison. IMO if you kill someone then you should have the same thing happen to you. I feel no remorse for sick people.

Exactly how I feel....if the details listed in the story is true, it's absurd the ruling he got, much less that he is considered for leaving early.

I struggle with the death penalty topic, but I would lose zero sleep over someone like this. It sickens me that the more sadistic the crime you do, the more understanding society is on the premise you must be insane, or from a bad home, or need rehabilitating....

The truly sad part of this story is that its not all that rare, we as a society some how feel that no matter how sadistic or diabolical some one is there always seems to be a small group of people and a lawyer or two that thinks the world needs these misfits.

I do have it in me to eliminate those whom harm the harmless and the innocent.

just because you are insane doesn't mean you 'get away with it'... in my eyes, insanity is a reason, not an excuse... full penalty should apply as if the dude were completely sane and this was premeditated.

Applied force law.... You have a RIGHT to used that appropriate amount of "applied force" to defend yourself or another against an attacker including up to killing the person if you TRULY believe the threat has not yet been eliminated!!! I used it once in self-defense, and that sorry SOB ended up having plastic surgery to put his face back together, but he was also a good 40# heavier than I was and as long as he was conscious and swinging, I kept beating on him until I was removed by 4 large police officers. End result, no charges as the whole incident was witnessed as he tried to assault me. I did end up with some scratches and a large bite mark, he ended up with many stitches above and under BOTH eyes, his nose needing replaced on his face and some stitches in him mouth.... All in all, he picked a "bad" person to try to assault. In all honesty, I'd have probably beat him to death if the police hadn't showed up, and he kept fighting.

I agree to some extent Christine, he'll be tortured enough in HELL by my beliefs..... But he most certainly MUST go to hell if he's guilty of doing such things to my child or anyone else's.

Probably used the insanity plea and worked it down to a Second Degree..... That is the disparity in our legal system. You can catch a perp with the bones of the victim, and a journal of how he dismembered and ATE the body, and still not have enough evidence to just put a bullet in his head or a rope around his neck....????? Worse yet you give him a sentence in which he may actually someday get out of prison....????

The more "civilized" a society "thinks" its become, oftentimes the LESS "civilized" it really is.....

    Case in point...

Once upon a time ABORTION was considered murder, now people argue that its a woman's PRIVATE CHOICE.... BS!!!

Once upon a time murderors didn't get a second chance, they were executed, and not allowed opportunities to be repeat offenders..... Nowadays a "voluntary manslaughter" can be out of prison in 3 yrs......

I'm pretty sure I could use deadly force to protect myself/family.....in the heat of the moment.

But, if I had to sit and plot out the taking of another person's life, I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it.

I'm just being honest. I hope no one ever tests this.

The killer was only 16 at the time... That's hard to believe a 16 yr old kidnapped, murdered, and ate a 5 yr old boy. That kid had some major mental problems. Where were his parents?

It's also hard to believe that he would be approved any type of parol. Just a sick and sad story.

Man what a tough one. Unless I was actually in this situation I really can not say forsure how I would handle it. I initially thought, I'd hunt him down and kill him, but in reality after thinking about how it would affect my wife and other son, if we were thrown into this situation, I would most likely focus on keeping the rest of my family together first. After that.. Not sure. This would be very hard for me to deal with on a daily basis. I would be leaning very heavily on the Lord, because if I didnt I would probably end up in prison or go insane.
